StarCraft ads a bit overboard?

Okay, so I understand something's gotta pay the bills and ads keep the site alive but MY GOD. I'm catching up on Zero Punctuation videos and before each and every one I see the same StarCraft II ad. Okay, that's understandable but a a little variety might be nice. Add to that though that at the top of my screen, is a looping StarCraft II banner ad, showing essentially the same ad in an infinite loop and to the right of my screen is the same ad in a slightly more squarish form, showing the same video in the same loop just half a second behond the ad on the top. I wouldn't care if you branded the whole site in StarCraft II regalia (again, something's got to pay the bills), but can you not make all the videos loop with no way to stop them? To top it all off, I already own the game! Seriously, after six Zero Punctuation episodes I'm actually regretting my purchase. Is there any way you could channel this feedback back up to your ad network or whomever is buying the space?

Sorry for the rant. Anyone else at the end of their rope?

Nah, since I'm used to TVtropes advertising Scientology this is kind of a relief.

Honestly haven't seen any, so I can't complain.

I just get Doraleous and Associates ads constantly.

Hey, count yourself lucky. Mines a Nissan ad that interupts every fucking video halfway through and resets it when it's finished. Least yours is something related to gaming.

Well, you have to admit, Starcraft 2 is HUGE.

Besides, if Activision wants to throw giant gobs of money down the toilet, advertising a game everyone knows about (even the local papers are writing stories about it), I'm not going to try and stop them.

I'm not fed up with StarCraft ads specifically, but I've had an experience similar to the OP's on Hulu and other streaming websites. For the convenience of being able to watch Hell's Kitchen anytime I want, on my own terms, I'm willing to put up with a few 15-second ads. The same ad four times in one video, though? Really? If I'm not convinced that those little 5-Hour Energy Shot things will "get you through that 2'oclock feeling" the first time, I'm not going to change my mind after seeing the exact same commercial three more times.

Systems like this really should consider setting up a looping ad queue or something.

It's called Publisher's Club. And it's definately worth it. I always forget how nice it is not having to watch ads until someone makes a thread complaining about the ads and reminds me. And the other benefits are nice too.

I agree that they are excessive, but at least they took the place of those godawful Slim Jim commercials.

"Dubba-dubba ee champ-yuns!" Ugh...

Meh, I've gotten a little sick of them since their fricken' everywhere, but it was the same with Battlefield Bad Company 2's ads. In a week or two, we won't even remember they existed.

Never having to see that Slim Jim commercial again was the tipping point that finally got me to join the Publisher's Club. I think I'm 20 years older than the target demographic for that ad.

The Starcraft ads never bothered me though. Sure, they could be repetitive, but at least they were for a product in which I might actually be interested.

Yeah i dont mind ads but they are messing with our site experience by stalling then reloading the whole vid.

Escapist gets paid and we don't get charged for the membership, live with the sacrifice of a 30 second ad.
Mostly this. Cuz this might happen if there's no banners/ads on the site.
