The story goes:
me and ma colleuge both bought demon souls on the same day and made a bet
whoever beat demon souls first won and the loser hasto buy the winner darksouls
so I put a peice of wood between my teeth, put some coffee on then sharpnd my pencil.
18hours of almost staright gameplay laster (I took breaks for my eyes ssake obviously) I had drunk heaps of coffee and I drew a line on the wall every time I died.

18hours-139 deaths and one beaten game

now before I fall unconcious I offer you a challenge

beat that

Did you beat the game, or is the challenge in dying more than 139 times in 18 hours?

Well that is just plain wrong.
Agreed, what the hell? If that were true the Souls games wouldn't exist.

Anyway jeeeesus bruv how the heck did you do that?! I must commend you good sir, I gave up after about my 30th Maneater death and I also never got past the Blue Dragon guarding the final boss room either, you must be exhausted!

what?!
where's your logic? I normally devote 10+ hours each day to gaming and I can honestly say none of those hours are multiplayer or online games.
Hardcore gaming is literally that, spending large amounts of time playing games (normally on hard or insane levels!)

O.T. I finished Red Faction Armageddon in five hours (game was bad though so I don't boast too much!)

Someone already did that and several times over at that, I might add.

Still, while I don't consider 18 hours all that impressive, being a DS veteran and all, I have to say having the stamina and willpower to stay up 18 hours and persist through all those deaths is quite something.

My own runs through a game generally consists of 10-12 hours to beat all the bosses with far less deaths, but then, as said, that's because of being a veteran and having beat the game several times over and having pretty much all the little things and secrets in the game. I'm not trying to bring you down or anything, but you did say "beat that", so there it is. Also, I think congratulations might be in order, since I don't think your friend will be able to do it in less time, the first time around.

Flawed logic is flawed?
I would wager more consecutive time has been spent by a singleplayer person trying to clock a single player game than a multiplayer person getting a good streak in multiplay.
I addition, there is still a lot of challenge in single player, and a lot of hard games. Beat this game in 18 hours and you might have a chance to talk. Otherwise, accept it as fact that Single Player gamers are the Original, and currently are still some of the best, hardcore gamers.

Were-beavers?

...

ISn't doing it like that sorta against the point? I mean, aren't you "supposed" to be playing for fun, not running a marathon?

Not if you're hardcore. ;)

Anyone can do an 18-hour marathon, the hardcoreness is in keeping playing a game for years, mastering it and improving your skills, competing with others and pushing each-other to new heights.

In fact, if you truly love a game, it is only natural, rather than hardcore, to play the hell out of it.

I finished Final Fantasy XIII with it's 50+ hours of gameplay in just 5 days...and it was an imported Japanese version just so that I'd get the original voices, but I never thought of the act as "hardcore".

I once played Tales of Symphonia for thirty seven hours straight because I had nothing else to do and was bored. Over the span of that entire week I had played that game ninety six hours total. I beat it two times and was on a third playthrough of it. It was the sixth or seventh time I beat it all the way through total.
The real kicker? On that last playthrough I was still finding new stuff in-game that I never saw before.

When you can speak the guys native language fluently, you can then call it broken English.

And for the guy who copped out by saying hardcore gamer's do not play single player, Gaussian fail.

Was it your first playthrough? Also while i do comment you on your awsome feat , i think you kinda mossed the point of the game , it's really not the destination, but the journey . I really do wonder , did you have fun? Or did you just rush through it to win the bet ? I guess if it wasn't your first play through it doesn't really matter , but if it is then koodos but you missed out on a lot.

The guy's Australian... I think I can speak his language fluently, and my own language. I think this can be qualified as broken English.
