Stop telling me gaming is bad!

Now, this is a bit of an angry thread, I keep finding articles about some authority figure telling the masses that video games are bad.
Stop.
In order for the logic usually used behind this assumption to work, then all entertainment and social mediums are bad!
I wish that more of our "leaders" that tell us whats up would come to this website.
This is a community, people support one another, people can discuss anything and everything, even touchy subjects that most people couldn't even talk to their parents about!
All because we love video games. Tell me that's bad eh.

I live by fairness and equality, it's a Canadian thing. But from what i've seen in the discussion pages on the forums, Canada is behind the times!
So I say this: The Gamer Community is possibly the most advanced and equal community out there, I never want to hear someone tell me it's a bad thing!

Yeahhh, I agree. Only we can save ourselves. The best way to do that, force your kids to play video games!

...I joke, of course, I'm an avid gamer myself.

Not sure where the discussion lies here, so I'll just go ahead and say I agree with you: the generation in charge of the media at the moment doesn't understand gaming, and so they fear it, so they think we should too.

Oh, and on the subject of this community being a porthole into an accepting, relatively anonymous community, I agree completely - I'm possibly even a prime example of what you described.

None of the people I know in real life know I even like anime, let alone that I ended up as such a damn Knight of Teresa [http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Knights_of_Hay_Teresa].

Yeah, composing a well thought-out letter and sending it to some big leader would probably be the smart thing to do. And I don't mean an E-mail, I mean a proper, bona fide letter, with paper and everything. Physical written letters tend to have more impact that typed messages.

but honestly, this is a prime example of "preaching to the choir".

On a forum that has gaming reviews, gaming forums, and is pretty much a site built around gaming, you are basically telling a box, that it is a box.
We all know this

I don't want to get sucked into another "here are all the good things about gaming" rant, or another "this is what bad things I could be doing instead of gaming" shpeal, so yeah...

As Micheal Jackson said there just ignorant.

They dont understand the true art of the gamer pure full and unadultrated fun apart from 18+ games thats just a different story. Anyway as said before haters gotta hate some people just cant acknowledge that things that seem wtrange to them are wrong.
