I live in Johannesburg and usually this time of the year it gets cold and dry but now it's been raining almost every day. I think there's something in the air, now in the last 6 months (not exactly sure about the exact time) there was earthquakes, floods, volcanoes erupting etc. Most of them happen a lot every year but these are all on a massive scale. I know people would say that its the end of the world but that doesn't really bother me since you have just as much a chance of being hit by a car when you go outside than the world would come to an end.

My question is: Has anyone else had strange weather or sensed something diffrent in the weather.

Yeah, here in the USA, tornado season is anything but right now. Hardly any violent storms; I believe it's the El Nino phenomenon.

Ah, England.
The only country I know of in the world that can have contrasting weather on consecutive days.
At least in England we never get bored of having too much of one type of weather. It changes at ;east once a week down by me.

Maybe it's an effect of the massive volcano eruption in Iceland. The ash clouds are huge and prevent all (I think) air traffic in Europe. The northern winds might have blown the smoke towards Southern Africa.

Screw the weather we have in England, what about the massive cloud of ash that is grounding every plane and practically bringing the country to a screeching halt?

Which, in a few days anyway, will settle and fall from the sky like snow

Edit: Dammit, ninja'd by my own stupidity in not reading the post before mine

The weather is rather good here in the Netherlands. Sure it's still below 25C (anything below that is cold), but at least I can sit outside and read a book in the sun.

It's actually a bit too warm for this time of year. Usually it's about 12-13C, but yesterday it was nearing 20. I actually walked around in shorts without socks! I never did that so early before.

We also had a rather freaky winter. Absolutely huge amounts of snow. We usually get a few cm's on a couple of random days, but this year there was snow almost constantly for about 3 months.

I know of the El nino thing, I studied it in geography but the strange thing is that the rest of South Africa is dried up.

As for the volcanic ash that would coime to South Africa is unknown to me but the strange weather has been here since the beggining of the year.

The weather in england sounds a lot like the weather here these days. You'll see no clouds at 9 in the morning and by 1 in the afternoon you'll only see cumulonimbus clouds every where.

Well...I live in Texas, where our saying is:

"Don't like the weather here in Texas? Wait a few days."

Essentially, our weather is so dang different. We have rain, hail, sleet, and even (surprisingly) snow this year.

Crap's crazy man, crap's crazy.
