What's the strangest scene you've ever read/seen in a piece of fiction? This can be anything from comic books to video games.

Quite possibly the coming-of-age party for Titus in Gormenghast. Bizarre, stilted characters with animal heads and elaborate costumes, playing out a farcical musical scene on the lake... And who seem to oddly reflect the other characters in the novel. And Titus' breakdown afterwards. Very strange scene indeed.

Honourable mentions go to Harlan Ellison, whose short stories are often extremely strange and fantastical, and to William Burroughs' Naked Lunch, which is a book-long string of bizarre and often horrifying scenes with very little coherence.

A character dying.

Then going to the afterlife in a dream, where he meets his brother who died earlier. His bro asks him where he wants to go and he just tells him he wants to go back.

So he just wakes up back from the dead!

You're referring to Okuyasu Nijiura from Part 4 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, right?

I always interpreted that scene as not Okuyasu really dying, but him being unconscious for Kira's attack and imagining looking to the older brother he always relied upon for help. Okuyasu making his decision to hold onto life without depending on other people due to his own low intelligence and self-esteem is representative of that scene. Or something like that.

Well since Josuke couldn't heal him, I just assumed he died. Whatever works is fine I guess, it was still a pretty awesome bro-scene.

I haven't read it in a while, so I can't remember why Josuke couldn't heal him. Maybe there's just a limit to Crazy Diamond's power. But yeah, it was pretty awesome.

A scene that always stuck out to me in "wtf am I reading" way was when a character inserted a broom handled into her vagina as part of a magical ritual. "witches riding brooms" indeed. The reason why actually kinda make sense....but still WTF. There as also a magic ritual the required her to have sex with a dude and reach organism with as little movement as possible and I'm not sure if was the same book or I'm getting my wires crossed but there was also someone mention to have cast a curse by making a circle out her menstrual blood around a house. I'm pretty sure I've seen that in an old myth to so I'm guessing that's where all the inspirations for theses things are coming from. Either that or this writer has some weird fetishes.

There's a certain subgroup of the Team Fortress 2 community that relishes in surreal Gmod/SFM animations. The results are...unique, to say the least. Damned if I don't find them hilarious though:
That's just the tip of the iceberg. There are literally hundreds of other videos like these out there. It's pretty much impossible for me to pick the weirdest one of the bunch.

Darn ninjas! That was pretty much the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the title!

Oh well, might as well contribute to the above post, then:

Oh yeah, and the ending from 2001: A Space Odyssey is weird, but that's probably because I haven't seen the whole movie. Does it make sense in context?

Any books listed under Bizarro fiction. The name pretty much says it all. The stories range from a million William Shatner's taking over the world to female punk strippers raping zombies and everything else in between. Check out bizarrocentral.com to see what I mean.

There is that one scene from Ichi the Killer, where one of the twins says 'is it really possible to just pull someone's arm off?' (Actually, thinking about it, most of that film is kinda beyond strange).

The reveal in 'The Skin I live in' is brilliantly unsettling.

The first act of Melancholia.

FLCL.

Not any particular scene, the whole damn thing. There is method to its madness and it can be picked apart, but most people who don't know what to look for apart completely lost in the animated version of LSD.

anyway stuff like Saga has its oddities but its not what I'd call the weirdest thing because it remains logical and consistant

OT: The first episode/double episode of TNG

with Q and the....giant space jellyfish...

There was a Salad Fingers episode that ended with him eating himself.

I've never been as baffled as when that happened.

Saga is consistently weird maybe but its really not what I call logical.
