Ok, so I'm not exactly sure if this is something that is somewhat well known already, but all of my friends had no clue what it was, so perhaps it's new to all of you as well.
The MBTI test is based on four categories, each with two different options, making for 16 results. I'll put a link up for the quiz, so everyone can take it and see what they get. Once you've gotten the four-letter anagram that represents your personality traits (mine was ESFP) , type it into Wikipedia, where there is a detailed description. Feel free to discuss results, this is a pretty interesting test.

Frankly, I'm surprised your friends don't know what the Myers-Briggs test is. It's pretty common.
As Katatori pointed out, it can vary. Some personality traits are more stable than others.
I will never be an "E" but my other three letters are pretty borderline, so I'm either INFP or INTJ, depending on whether or not a butterfly flapped its wings in Africa... or what mood I'm in at the time.
