But they break the dull monotony of intelligent discussion!
Or, in simpler terms, they're fuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. Sometimes.

Bleh, this thread needs a poll. One with bacon.

also, just to be an ass...

actually, if you look up the word "anything", you'll realize that statement is incorrect. Adding "peanut" to a poll does add another poll option, though it is most likely at a complete logical disconnect from the topic.
That's still something... it's just not a relevant something.

I think what this topic needs...is a bump! :D

Kidding, it needs a poll with stupid options. Just as an example of course...not so I can choose them... >.>

Actually it does, it adds an option to those who don't want to choose yes or no yet still want to vote.

But it's so horribly disappointing to enter a thread an find that you can't answer the poll and just leave without answering.
I much prefer being able to leave a 'peanut' vote then.

Agreed.

In fact, I go one step further and spoiler my poll options e.g.

POLL - rtfm:

Option one
Option two

Sonic is a *****-arse cracker
Sonic is rad-kicking cool

so that people will actually read the frickin' post and not just drive-by poll.

Some people like to vote in polls to see what the response looks like. A nonsense option allows them to vote (and thus see the responses) without actually swaying the poll either way.

As long as there aren't walnuts, I'll be alright. They make my tongue itch. Dirty nuts.

I second this, I love cashews. They're kinda pricey though...
I prefer bacon.
What about a bacon-nut. I know what you're thinking, it's just bananas, right? But, luckily, I can read your mind and my mind's response is 'sandwich' to which you reply with my mind and keyboard, 'why not combine them all?' Then I think, 'I'll go one even better!' Here's my idea...

Banana-Bacon-Cashew-Nut-Bread!!

Now the real question...what goes in the sandwich using that bread?

Answer: BACON!!!

maybe its because if you dont have an actual answer, but have something to add to the discussion, its an answer for you.
