the recent super Mario world game features an automatic play option where the computer goes through the level for you, but you have to be the one controlling by the time you get to the finish line or else you dont get credit. which means you can let the computer do 99.99% of the work and as long as your the one who passes the finish line you get complete credit.

honestly this has got to be the stupidest idea in gaming to date. it contradicts what a game really is and whoever came up with the idea needs to be fired and never allowed to work in the gaming business again.

I swear, all you complainers.....

"You don't have to use it, stop complaining" may just become my new catchphrase. Stop whining so much. If someone wants to be so extremely lazy that they do let the computer play 99.9% of the level, then that's their problem. I really don't care and neither should you.

Lol, if you put it like that it sounds stupid... but thats because you have wrongly interpreted what the program actually does. The next New Super Mario Bros. for Wii is apparently extremely hard, like good old nes/snes hard. To help those that would otherwise struggle, they implemented this new code through which if you die say 10 times at one point in a level then your support character can help you, if you want them to of course. There is a very large difference in what i just described to what you just did. This piece of coding was only implemented for those who find the game too much of a challenge and need a quick helping hand, im sure you will never need to use it.....

Err, in order for said auto-play to become available, you have to die several times in a level first, and even then, you still don't have to use it.

EDIT: You guys are fast.

So... they added a option that makes it so you don't have to play.though you could save money and not even buy it then watch video's of people playing.
That's not really it. First, you have to die a certain amount of times in a row. THen, the computer will go to through the level. You can stop it at anytime. When the level ends, you take over again.
Oh alright that makes sense.

A: This has been done before in poll form.
B: It's an option, and not a bad idea either. Plus you have to die 7 times for it to give you the option.
C: It takes out the frustraition of levels people just don't want to play, games are for enjoyment in the end, if you think a challange is enjoyable, that's fine, don't use the option, if you get frustraited by it, you wont be stuck there. I don't see why ANYBODY is complaining over this.

I think its a nice additon as long as it stays optional. I sure would have liked to see the last few levels of super mario world, but I sucked too much to ever get past the first three levels of that final world. Good job nintendo. I dont say that very much.

There's a new Super Mario World game? I heard of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but I never of that.

But more seriously, you have to die repeatedly before it's available. It's there to get you pass that one jump or whatever.

This is something that I'd use just to see how it handles the game environment. The nerd in me wants to see if the actions are scripted or if their is actually an AI playing the game for you.

Also, unless I've developed the ability to see the future this is old news.

For god's sake, YOU DON"T HAVE TO USE IF YOU DON"T WANT TO! It is for the people who might have trouble playing the game. Hell, just don't get the game.
This guy couldn't be more right. It's called an option for a reason ya know, it's not like the game automatically will play itself

A less angry exactly.

They are trying to appease the older audience that likes a challenge along with all the people like me who while I maybe old my self have grown out of the constant need for bragging rights and boasting and just want to play a game for fun. For fun meaning not getting stuck on the third level because one series of jumps proves a little more difficult, and the prospect of playing the level over and over again 100 times until you got the timing down perfect might have appealed to the 14 year old me with entire afternoons to kill, 27 year old me has at most an hour or two a night and maybe 6 total the whole week to game.

You don't HAVE to use it you know. Although I head it's as hard as Contra, so you just might as well (not all of it, but still).
