It seems like a fun game... And usually I'm by no means bad at games.

But even after spending several hours in training and challenge modes, along with vs with a friend, I just lost to the first fighter in Arcade Mode.

On the "Easiest" difficulty setting.

Is there any sort of hope, or should I just chuck the disc out the window and not even try?

I never liked street fighter 4, and if you do play super, tell me how it goes.Personally, I wouldn't play it.

I know the feeling actually. I picked up a copy of the first Street Fighter IV (the one that came out before the second one [the second one being the one that was basically the same game only with more so that everyone who bought the first one had to sit around feeling fucked]) and remember having been incredibly frustrated by it.

It's possible that maybe I just belong on the short bus with all the other kids who could never get past being just decent on Soul Calibur and shouldn't even try to lay a finger on any of the big boy's fighting games... that said, I have the distinct feeling that Street Fighter is one of those series where you have to pick one character, then spend days reading text book sized manuals for how to properly use them, training to properly use them, and then finally moving from being shitty to being less than shitty... And then you have to move on to learning the next character.

Point being, if you feel like taking the time to learn it, and you have that much time to use and your only other option for how to use your free time is jumping off cliffs, then I'm sure Street Fighter IV could be a rewarding and enjoyable experience. If you find yourself to be more like me, however, you might just end up sticking it in the pile with the rest of the games you picked up because your coupon required you to pick out 3 used games, and after you got home you found them unplayable, so not playing them is exactly what you do and they just sit in a big depressing pile that taunts you every time you look at it.

I did get it for free. XD That's the only reason I have it.

I suppose it's a lost cause, but still, I don't feel too ripped off. I'll just go back to my rpgs. XD At least in those you get a sense of progression.

Street Fighter takes a long time to master, it's almost like a sport.

I say don't quit yet, only stop if you're not having fun anymore.

I would chuck the game or, since it's still 'new' take and trade it at the nearest nearest game-N-go.

I tried it at a local game place and was frustrated by the slow pace of the game [I am more used to the much quicker Marvel vs Capcom 2] I also didn't think to use the triggers. Street Fighter and, fighting games in general are not the kind of games I like anyway.

Lol.

I like SF and i hate SF.

Its a really technical fighter and im better at fighting games like the Capcom VS series and Darkstalkers.

SF just take practice, lots and lots and lots of practice.

Once you find a character that just clicks for you then it starts to get really fun.
Id keep it and give it a give it some more time.
It took me FOREVER to learn how to play well as Ken, who is now my best character.

Play Tekken. Tekken 3 or 5.

The buttons make sense.

I've played SFIV and I still prefer Tekken by a looooong shot.

If you want to be as good as me, you'll have to play for over a year, facing many opponents every day. Hahahaha.
Now when I win that tournament tomorrow I will truly be the best Street Fighter player in the world. Damn I'm cool.

I always liked Tekken, maybe I'll give that a shot. SF really is too technical for me, and my hands are killing me from trying to pull off even the simple moves.

I really salute those of you who are good at that game, it just kicks my ass endlessly. I don't dare step online to get my self one-shotted by a 47-hit-combo I didn't even know existed.
