Mortal Kombat Deception less than $5. I liked the konquest mode, it also has a puzzle mode, a racing mode, a chess mode and of course the arcade mode.

I bought Star trek Conquest, casue it was $3. It turns out that, while not the best game ever made, it is a rather competent game. It was surprisingly good, and well worth the money i paid.

Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts for £5.20 (including £2 p&p)

It's pretty good, I mean I hadn't really heard of it - If they replaced the models with super mario characters and put it on the wii then it'd probably be much more known.

You collect jiggies (like stars) in different worlds that are unlocked when you reach certain amount of jiggies (mario 64). You do tasks for people in the worlds to get jiggies. It's all about vehicles really if you hadn't guessed. For most things you'll have to modify or create a specific vehicle to get the best result which is an aditional trophy with your jiggy, 4 of these gets you another jiggy. Then there's online racing/sports/battles you can do, even with another person on the same console - but I havn't played this because it won't find anyone.. no-one plays it anymore I guess. The single player challanges you have to do to earn jiggies are pretty much the different things you can do in the multiplayer.

Basically if you take Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64, mash them together, have the multiplayer just like mario kart, have the single player be the same setup as Super Mario 64 but all about challanges like in the multiplayer.. yeah Super Mario Kart Galaxy.

Got Grim Fandango for a tenner,

Blue Dragon for seven,

and got Lost Oddyssey, PGR4, and Prince of Persia together for about 20 Euro (those three were used, but still, pretty sweet).

Kingdom Hearts for $20.Sure that sounds like quite the amount when you think about it.But in Icelandic video game prices,it's the same as buying something for pennies on the dollar.Seeing as how most games cost around $100.

I just picked up Mirrors edge for 50p from GAME (I had a couple quid on my reward card), which has got to be worth it for any game really, but this one isn't even bad.

So tell me escapists, what have you bought because you had a little bit of change left over from lunch and been surprised by?
As it happens, Mirror's edge is my surprisingly good cheap game too! Although it cost me £5, rather than 50p...

Oh, and I picked up Mass effect essentially because it was cheap, and I'd heard a couple of good things about it. £8 and 3 days later, I became something of a fanboy...

I'm not sure if the Orange Box counts, in that I wasn't surprised that it was good, having already played through Portal on a friend's PC in an afternoon. But it came up in a steam deal for £5.77, so I got it.

I found the Dungeon Siege II Deluxe Edition (DS2 + expansion + some extra bits) for some $10 - granted, I would probably have bought it even if it hadn't been that cheap, since I really like the first Dungeon Siege.

Bought the game Prey for X360 for under £5, it was great fun and was more enjoyable without the memory of dishing out so much cash.

Star Trek Armada 2. Great game in it's time, and now with the freeware Fleetops mod, it's former glory is restored for the modern RTS/Star Trek fanboy like me. Can't remember how much it cost, as I bought it back in '02 or sometime around then, but I remember it was a steal.

i live in the bargain bin . here's a list of some of my treasures

Evil genius - pure awesome

gun-great shooter

impossible creatures-stupid RTS, but actually really fun. You splice animals together, to create some godless affront to nature, than go kill other godless affronts to nature.
Elephant lobsters for the win.

Conquest: frontier wars-great RTS, but turns absolutely impossible 3/4 of the way through. seriously, you can type in all the cheat codes you want, you still wont beat it.

psyconauts- awesome little game. go buy it

Space rangers 2- easily in my top 5 favorite games list. go buy it now. and get the expansion too.

painkiller- screw plot, this is fun!!

several different armored core games

Morrowind-huge awesome game

Time splitters future prefect-get it now

the first digimon world for PS1- surprisingly awesome game

heroes of might and magic IV

The original DOOM trilogy- if i have to explain this, you have failed as a gamer.

i got a box set once for $10, with Freedom fighters, black and white with expansion, some war game( call of honor or something like that) and some LotR game. All decent 2, first 2 were excellent. black and white is one of my all time favs.

and those are just the ones i can think of off the top of my head. I recommend playing any and all of them, and i got all but 2 of them (space rangers and morrowind) for under $10

Project Sylpheed for the 360, the one time that Square Enix got into space ship shooters. A fun, gorgeous game but its one short little blighter.
This, got it for $15 NZ, which is a steal. I just wish that company would branch out more, maybe make a sequel.

Spotted a game called Ninety-nine-nights in the local pawn shop for a buck, figured why not.

It was actually fairly good, nothing really 'zomgwtfbbq' about it, but for a buck? Hell yea.
