Ok so my little old PC is getting a bit slow an quite frankly it's useless for games of any kind so I've found a PC which is well within my budget (£400)and I need some advice on whether getting this new PC is a good idea because I know nothing about computers.

That's my current PC

That's the PC I looked at. It seems pretty decent but like I said I know nothing about computers and would appreciate some advice :).

The games I play atm are;

Minecraft, Guild wars, C+C Generals, Blitzkrieg, Spore, RTW and M2TW.

Thank you Escapist :).

It's difficult to find actual tech specs, but from what I've managed to find I'd say that it isn't really what you'd need for gaming. It's got an integrated graphics card, whereas for gaming you'd want a proper card. Although it seems to have an upgrade slot available to install one there really isn't enough juice from the PSU to power a decent card.

Also I'd say 3Gb RAM is on the tail end of gaming for now. It'll play the games you've listed but wouldn't be much good for if you bought some newer games.

Essentially you'd be looking at the initial £300, plus about £50 for a decent PSU and another £50 for a dedicated graphics card. So £400 to play the games you've listed. If you wanted to then play newer games (Guild Wars 2 soon!) you might be looking at another £50-100 pounds for new RAM and probably a better graphics card than the original £50 estimate. You'd be in the region of £300 PC with almost £200 of upgrades. Plus if you're unsure about computers I doubt you'll be comfortable with a lot of upgrading yourself, and the PC world techs will charge a bomb for that much modification. At that point it'd be better to just go in for a better initial purchase. You could feasibly build yourself a much better PC with those funds, or if you want one right out of the box then something in the £500 to £600 bracket will be a very good bet. The PCs for gaming section on the site does actually have some pretty good stuff.

That PC doesn't have a graphics card so its worthless for gaming. I recommend building one yourself. You can find tons of guides to help you.

Here are some i found:

The third one is a good gaming machine but you don't need a 6 core processor for the games you play. Unless you plan to play some newer games, you can drop down to a 4 or even a 2 core. You can also drop the graphics card down to a 6850 instead of a 6870. Look around for guides that fit your budget.

If you don't want to put it together yourself, you can use sites that will build it for you.
