I'm gonna be honest and say I really don't care for the dub, judging by what I have seen. The voice actors for Asuna and Kirito are not the ones I would have chosen, but the voice actors for Klein and Kayaba were pretty good.

A question I have is, did they dub the second part of the series? Alfhiem Online goes a little into what could be called somewhat incest themes and I will be shocked if Adult Swim plays that on American, don't know if adult swim is elsewhere, television. Even at two in the morning.

Don't know if they are doing the Alfheim Online Arc (though i would assume yes) seeing as they just released episode 1 two days ago.

Ugh, Aniplex of America make terrible English dub trailers...

I thought the dub was fine. Gives me another reason to watch it, as I actually do like SAO.

I like how they're not trying to mimic the original voices, like how both Kirito's and Klein's English voice sound nothing like the Japanese voices. I admire people who do their own thing rather than just try and recreate something else, even if the end result isn't great. I can get behind Kirito's English voice even if it's a little goofy sounding (at least to me.) I grew up listening to dubs where some of the characters had goofy sounding voices but still enjoyed. Still need to hear the rest of the cast, though. Like I said, the trailer leaves a terrible impression. I felt the same way about their Madoka Magica English trailer. I really liked the dub, but that trailer doesn't do a great job at making it sound good.

But then again, I'm easier on dubs than most other people are. Most people like to make dubs out as a hate crime against the original Japanese voice overs, when it's nothing of the sort. No one is saying that they're trying to be better than the original. No one is forcing you to watch it. The original is still there for you to enjoy. It's just another means of translation, like subtitles. Yeah, people will bring up companies like 4kids, but come on, they've never been relevant since the late 90s / early 00s. I mean, does anyone know or even care what they're doing now?

I'm 100% sure they did. I don't see why they wouldn't. Yeah, there's a bit of an incest subplot, but this is Adult Swim. I don't think they're really gonna care one way or another. I've seen more questionable things dubbed.

It's not just the incest thing. It's basically the enter end of the series, the tentacle "almost porn," the near rape, etc. That entire arc really jumped the shark at the end.

Asuna sounds like she's freaking 12 years old.

Overall it sounds okay, I guess. Those english pronunciations of Japanese names are always good for a laugh (and vice versa).

Too bad it won't make this anime any less terrible.

Yeah seems like a stupid setting for a anime but hey what do I know I've never really been into anime. If anyone has some good starter ones that take place near rural mountains I'd like to know.

I forgot how catchy that song is, well maybe I'll make it past episode 16 with the dub. I can use it as background noise at least.

Preface: I have never heard if this show until I saw the ad for it

So yeah, after seeing this advertised on Toonami my initial opinion is it seems very similar to .hack, which while I did enjoy the GU games, the anime always blew me away with how boring it was, despite the genuinely interesting idea at it's core.

I'unno, I'll watch it if I happen to catch it while browsing channels.

She is 17 at the end of the show.

OT: I loved the first SOA storyline, a bit dark but overall good. In my heart, that is the end of the series.

I wanted to slap the idiot who came up with the sexist, rapist, pedophilia laced, Alfheim Online Arc. I despise that person, and NO, I do not care that age of consent is 13 in Japan, it is still rape and pedophilia. I also do not care that arranged marriages are a 'tradition', 1) She is not awake to approve 2) They are still very wrong.

1) The man partaking in such acts was the villain, and they purposely portrayed him as being a disgusting human being who had to be stopped.

2) She's 17, so it's technically not really pedophilia since she's post-pubescent. Still doesn't make what he does good, but again... villain.
