Just though I'd warn anyone that might be considering this pile of trash, but it was rushed out with most features missing and a terrible and unpolished user interface. It's sufficiently bad that the publisher is offering refunds.

Don't buy.

That's a shame.

Maybe it'll end up like Space Empires 5.
Later patches fix stuff.

The latest patch actually broke it more for me than the initial buggy release..I can't even play it now.

Sigh.

Well that sucks. Was thinking about getting this the other day. I guess I'll wait and see if they can manage to fix it. Thanks for the warning.

You just described Stronghold 3 as well.
That's unfortunate. I was actually considering Stronghold 3 when the price dropped a bit.

That really sucks. Even if they fix it later on, the bad publicity and the shitty reviews will prevent the game from ever reaching any sort of commercial sucess. Also sad to hear about Stronghold 3. With those two declared poop there really isn't much to look forward to until Skyrim. Days like this, I wish I liked Modern Military FPS games, I think I might be a happier gamer...

Personally, im still trying to tell myself that just because Skyrim doesnt have a Hand to Hand Skillset, and has Big Monsters previously not Present in the TES Universe; It can still be well worth Buying.

Y'know, at least indie games (like Star Ruler and Minecraft) have the good decency to admit to be releasing an unfinished game, have the decency to release the unfinished game at a knockdown price promising continued access to the completed game, like a pre-order with beta access, and the decency not to pretend otherwise.

I just got the original for £4 - from what I hear, I shouldn't pay that much for this sequel :/

what I don't get is why bethesda gets preferential treatment in this department. you just described the release of the Fallout 3 except the reviewers chose to phrase it as "a bit buggy, a bit unpolished, get it anyway cause bethesda"
Well, Fallout 3 was overall, a good game. And I never really experienced any bugs while playing it, or Oblivion.

Yeah, The game was originally released as the beta, which was quickly fixed the same day.
However a stability issue caused many people to be unable to actually play the game and a patch to 'fix' this was released a day later...

However, the game itself is currently:

Slow/Sluggish (even with my high powered computer)

Quite random in behaviour (Sometimes it'll take 1 second to open a menu, other times it takes literally 2 mins)

Un-intuitive (much of the user interface is new and not explained)

Not stable (Crashes happen both randomly and predictably (i.e. at a specific point in each game))

Generally unfinished.

Basically they released it (by my reconing) about 1-2 months too early, much the same way as MANY games these days (especially on steam...) are being released.
Somehow the age of digitally accessable software has prompted developers to release games Early and then just released a multitude of automatic patches over the next few months to allow a quicker return on their product.

This is really getting to annoy me, because we're paying 30-40 quid for a half-rate beta of a game with a flimsy promise that "it'll get better soon, probably..." without any measure of how long 'soon' will be or how good 'better' is...

A good rule of thumb is that bigger releases have more fanboys.

It also means fewer reviewers will dare give a bad score, whether it be fanboy outrage they fear, or the companies not buying advert space/letting them in on the next project/etc.
