I couldn't find anything on this after a search. The Release date for the highly anticipated MMO has been announced. December 20 2011. After waiting so long for a actual date how excited are you guys? Do you think that it will be well worth the wait? What classes or kind of style play do you guys plan to lead? Feel free to discuss anything about it.

Last I heard the speculation was the 20th because Best Buy sent their preorder people that date, personally that is a bit of an odd date, you're hitting people right before the major holiday so odds are they will be busy and won't be able to play, instead of hitting people right before their breaks so they can play during the break. Also putting out limited qualities at the peak of the holiday shopping spree...what a pain in the arse, anyone going to a retail store to get it is going to have to deal with parking, tons of people, and seemingly never-ending lines to the cashier.
Also you've made 3 of these threads in a row, ask a mod to close the other 2.

ya idk what happened it said it didnt work so it was a complete accident. But ya i thought it was an odd date to. The only logical thing i could see them trying is for the holiday sale boost.

Honestly I got the preorder the first day available, however I really am not at all excited for ToR in the slightest. It has two major things going against it for me.

First is the fact I really do not care much for Star Wars. It is the original trilogy that practically ruined the entire franchise for me. Even if you hate the prequel trilogy you have to have a deal of respect for it considering that it established much of what the current generation actually likes about the franchise. Notions like the expansion of the narrative relating to the dark side and the sith as well as more focus on expanding the planetary lore and alien races. All this stuff came together in Knights of the Old republic which to me is the saving grace of the franchise. But the franchise as a whole Is not my personal taste. Sort of like having an appreciation for a certain athlete, but not being a fan of the sport they participate in.

Secondly, I have issues with MMOs. Ive played nearly 100 MMOs to date and I repeatedly find that I am burnt out on the conventions of which they are built. Granted most of them are built around WOWs recent success so it stands to reason playing clones would not typically generate any new level of enjoyment. But my biggest issue is I remember my days in my first MMO, Everquest and I did have a great deal of difficulty with the game as it became something I found to be dangerously addicting. Now granted I am not the type to let most addictions hold sway over me, and no other MMO has been able to instigate a relapse into addiction, but I do hold concern that if there truly is something good about this game that I can enjoy that other MMOs since EQ have failed to reproduce, that I might struggle with that addiction again. Any addiction I eventually over come, but it does take time and effort to do so.

So, honestly I really am not looking forward to this game. Predominantly for those reasons. However another reason is that invariably I am aware that the players will ruin what is good of the game. It goes without saying that WoW players will eventually influence the game, in its community and its development. Much of the games population is going to come from a WoW background and with that not only comes the bad habits of certain WoW players, but also comes from illogical WoW expectations that wont fit into the SWU unless Bioware has to cave to make it conform to that.

So again, no, not looking forward to it. the ONLY reason why I am going to play it is because my best friend in the world is going to play and it has been entirely too long since we have been able to play something together as a team and he is insanely excited about the game. Damned friendship.

Well, I agree that this isn't the most promising MMO on the horizon. Nevertheless Bioware and LucasArts just cancelled my christmas.
