Will go ahead and apologize if this is the wrong place to put this. Looked around and compared different boards and this one seemed like the right one.

Anyways...

I've been playing SWToR and been loving it, but I've been having trouble in some of the flashpoints (just got to endgame and was doing the story ones for the lvl 50 planet) and they, as well as whenever lots of new data needs to be shown like when I'm riding on the rocket tram on Corellia, cause a lot of framerate issues, sometimes even to the point of making me stop for two to ten seconds.

I think I've found the solution, but before I make the purchase I'd like to make sure I've got my information right. Most of my system is fine (3.4ghz dual core processor, dxdiag says my video card has ~760 MB of VRAM), but the only part my system doesn't make is the 4 gigs of RAM. Logic dictates that if I upgrade to 4 gigs (using a 32 bit system so it'll only use 3.0 to 3.5 gigs of it) I should be able to have the graphic quality of some of the videos I see online (the ones that are very smooth, mind).

Basically, 2 extra gigs of RAM will probably fix my framerate issues, correct?

It won't hurt. Honestly, I'd recommend 8 for TOR, though. The game is stupidly RAM hungry. Even at 4, my girlfriend's machine ran it a bit choppy, especially at places like Fleet.

Starting to feel paranoid about my video card now. Dxdiag says its 760 or so MB of VRAM, but I wouldn't put it past me to have read it wrong. Its a Radeon HD 3800. Pretty sure it isn't the problem though since it loads everything all nice until lots of loading needs to be done (i.e. fine in space and small areas, but places like Alderaan with its grass and trees everywhere make it go the way of the sloth).

And thank you kindly for the response guppy. I'm sure its the RAM that needs upgrading...though now I'm worried about the video card so that kind of invalidates my statement -_-...but its always good to have a second opinion

I'm not gonna lie to you, that's not a great video card. But I was running the game on an aging 5770 and had everything completely cranked up and my frame rate was flawless, so I'd push video card below RAM and processor in terms of likeliest bottleneck when it comes to TOR. RAM especially.

Alrighty. Thank you kindly for the information. Hopefully once I can get some cash I'll be running it flawlessly.

Run>msinfo32.exe

This is another way to gather the information although it's a bit more technical and more detailed than getting it through Dxdiag .
