Team Fortress 2 - Worst game ever?

Wow. Just... wow.

I bought Orange Box for the xbox360 today. Actually, I initially bought it on release day so I could play Portal... so I technically re-bought it. Back then there was barely a person playing Team Fortress 2 so I gave it a miss. However, having heard numerous endorsements of the game, and assuming that the amount of people playing might have picked up, I bought another copy.

What. A load. Of balls. I've been trying to play for the last few hours, but have now thrown in the towel - it's rubbish. It's like the original, TFC, but slow, with a total of about 4 maps - only one of which supports CTF- , and whining American children requiring mass-muting at the beginning of every game.

Am I doing it wrong? Have I missed something? Or is this genuinely a terrible game? I realise that the PC version has more support from Valve... but can the 360 version be so different? I'm not sure what my enquiry is with this post... but someone please explain - I'm feeling somewhat bewildered and perplexed!!

You're playing the 360 version, yes it can be very different :p

It can't be that terrible if absolutely everyone else thinks it's mediocre at worst. Most people say it's brilliant.

Xbox version has the Live community.

PC version has PC community.

Buy it for the PC and love it like the rest of us!

What you did wrong? Not buying the PC version is what you did wrong. The Controls for console shooters are not as good as PC shooters. There are less kids on the PC version, you have muting options and not 4 measily maps, but always up to date countless maps.

I don't know how a 360 or Ps3 works, but I know it needs updating. It is purely an online shooter, nothing else. You need other people to play it. And one against one won't cut it.

The 360 version is the game in it's original state, and I doubt there's much of a community for it on the 360.

The PC version is so far improved over itself since it's release it's ridiculous.

And don't exaggerate on stupid phrases like "worst game ever".

The PC version is the one everyone is talking about when they call it the greatest thing since Jesus.

Your problems seem to be coming more from the fact you're playing the 360 version rather than the quality of the game its self...

I play TF2 almost every day, and run into a screaming child maybe once a month at absolute most on the PC. Not to mention having 29 maps, as opposed to 4, 5 of which are CTF maps (this doesn't even count the Arena mode maps which I don't actually play on.)

PC gets all the updates. TF2 PC is a completely different game (it has more than 4 maps, in fact, it also has great community made maps too). TF2 for consoles is pretty much a glorified demo.

You bought the xbox version, so you're missing out on; hats, class updates, weapons, maps, payload, arena, king of the hill, balance changes, and sandvich.

Though if you hate it you probably wouldn't like it anyway.

I think it has 5 or 6 maps, features capturing positions and capturing the flag (there is a difference) and people in general usually require muting on xbox live. I personally thought it was a load of good fun, with differing classes and working gameplay. I did get a bit irritated, since getting none of the support the pc people got and an update that made it impossible to play as any other class as the sniper for a few months.

Apparantly the game is truly different on the pc though, so if you like pc gaming, you might wanna give it a try.

Yes it can, and yes it is.

The 360 version has no new maps and is still the same as it was in 2007.

The PC version has shitloads of new maps and new class updates that constantly keep the game fresh. Hell the engie update just dropped, and the Polycount update is on the horizon.

360 version stagnated. The PC version evolved into something amazing.

Get the PC version, it is better than the 360 version. Hands down.

you know you bought the bad one, you fail right there but yes it is very differint, as i started from the PS3 then bought it for PC, i must say i really happy with how much the game improved since the PC doesnt have many glitchess, unlocks, achievements..

if you have gripes with the actual gameplay and think it sucks in general, may lord have mercy on your soul (if you are athiest then may nothing have mercy on your soul)

This seems slightly like troll bait, but I personally don't like TF2 myself too. And for the record, I have it for PC, so it's not because I'm playing it on live. I'll admit that it's balenced, and the characters themselves are interesting, but I just don't find it to be fun.
