Whatever, just wash your hands.
I liked it, not as good as some of the really high points it had during the freza arc or the 'cell vs' ones, but still quite good.

I feel like quality dropped a lot the last couple of episodes, the attraction between Dende and Gohan is just uncomfortable and having Goku and Cell do the same just feels lazy. Mr. Satan jokes feel samey, the sound quality seems to deteorate since I need to turn on subtitles to understand what they are saying and the animation in Videl's scene..... *pukes*
Why did you puke

It looked bad, like end of "The World's Strongest" bad. I get the idea of adding new scenes to expand on the jokes but the quality is just atrocious.
I'll give you that, I know TFS is low on funds when it comes to production values but they could've done better

I liked it and I'm loving this thing between Cell and Goku right now. Of all the villains, from Vageta to Cell, Cell feels the most personally involved. Like he knows the team well and could very well join them, had things turned out differently. Cell has already solidified himself as the villain I'm going to miss the most.

Was it really that bad? Both scenes were animated by the same person and I think he did an okay job. It is jarring, moving from OG DBZ to the new scenes. It's just the obvious limitations of an abridging team peaking through. It ain't perfect, but I appreciate the attempt.

Let's add some examples to this here post, to broaden the conversation a bit.

It was pretty okay I guess, but I just can't stand Mr Satan. He's not funny and he wasn't funny in the original (english) dub either. Trying to explain in different ways how none of the z fighters have any special powers got old pretty fast.

It was pretty good- also blocked on Youtube at the moment thanks to Toei being dickheads, but people looking can find it on the website.

I think TFS' output has been really strong as of late. Yeah, the original art they've been using isn't great, but I appreciate the effort to try something a little different. It's just a stinger joke anyway, so it doesn't have a huge impact on the episode itself.

One thing I think is going to be a problem is how heavily they're leaning into the "Goku is a bad dad" angle. I mean yeah, that meme has been around forever, but TFS has been doing a lot to popularise it, when really we're only just now getting to the point where Goku's parenting issues rear their head.

Knowing how it's all going to go, the question is how they're going to get this version of Gohan who's hated his father since he was five, to the Father-Son Kamehameha. Not to mention the Buu saga, where young adult Gohan has nothing but hero worship for his dead old man. You can change dialogue and facial expressions TFS, but you can't change him choosing to go into the battle wearing the orange gi. I hope they've got a plan these next few episodes to turn the daddy-issues ship around.

I've never gotten the impression that TFS Gohan "hates" his father. He has issues with his dad yes, but he still cares for him. He just cares for him like you do an animal with severe mental handicaps. He tries to speak to him as a rational adult...and then remembers who he is talking to. To be fair though, none of the "parents" in this show are good parents. Chi Chi is a monster of a different flavor than Goku, I mean seriously would you want her as a mother? Bulma is equally a terrible parent, pretty much all parental figures are horrible in the abridged. The only one even remotely decent is Picollo, and even he has tried to kill Gohan, and regularly beat the shit out of him for training. Though I am somewhat forgiving about that, given the nature of Gohan's species, and the magical way in which people can be healed. Is it really child abuse, if by beating the shit out of him, you make him exponentially stronger than before? AND you can just toss him a tiny bean that he eats and is instantly healed? Especially when the kid ASKS for the training?

So yeah, the parents in the show suck, but that's the running joke. It's also a common trope to explain why children are out fighting wars, and tyrants, instead of adults and governments. If the parents aren't already dead, then they are terrible parents, to justify the kids being self-sufficient, and out on their own doing stuff. I've lost count of the number of stories that do that, when the children are the main characters.

OT: I continue to enjoy the episodes. As someone who never watched the source material (and is glad for it), I find the content super hilarious and enjoyable. That's why I like their material, it doesn't require you to be a rabid fan of DBZ to get 95% of the jokes. Only occasionally do I say "I don't get it." when they tell some obscure reference joke.

I really enjoyed it, but I agree with a lot of the gripes mentioned, especially Mr. Satan. He's just annoying, which is kind of disappointing. However, I did get a kick out of all the innuendo, especially when Cell said "While I'm busy pounding your son, I'll be thinking of you the whole time." So wrong, so hilarious. I also liked all the jokes about Dende being the new God, with him saying "Me dammit!" or Gohan saying "What in Dende's name do you you think you're doing?"

Overall, I was able to watch it 3 times without it losing its luster.

Really because with the exception of bringing baby Trunks to the Gero fight I think that Bulma is a okay parent.

Also for anyone who was annoyed with Mr Satan, the Canadian subtitles agree with your feelings and I highly recommend you check them out.

I'm kinda wondering how they're going to change up Piccolo's dialogue next episode.

Because in the Sub, he says something that sounds like it could come straight out of DBZA itself regarding how Gohan isn't a fighter and doesn't get excited by mayhem like himself and Goku.

I'm calling it now. in the next episode, android 16 is going to bond with Gohan about how badly he wants to kill his dad, and that's going to be what causes him to finally go SSJ2.

"I understand because I, too, want to murder son goku, let it goooo" XD

as to my thoughts, the series has been okay, lately. not super great, but good enough to justify the 10-15 minutes I spend watching it.

the comic timing of the final line of the episode, with Cell punching the tar out of Gohan and shouting "thinking of you, Goku!" was perfect. I laughed out loud, which is a very rare occurrence.

As she is portrayed in the abridged, she is an overbearing, dominating, control freak of a woman, who when challenged on even things as simple as what books he will read, she blows her top and starts yelling and throwing things. She's a classic unhinged parent, who blows up at the drop of a hat. Her son lives in fear of her through most of the series up through the Namek stuff. Sure, usually her insanity and manipulation is directed at Goku, but Gohan gets it too. She's already planned out his life, whether or not he wants to live that life, and if he, or anyone else pushed against that plan, she lost her shit. I haven't seen that as much now, but then we've also rarely seen her at all after the first few seasons. Maybe she's more reasonable in the actual tv show, but the abridged, she's fucking nuts.
