Well to me that seems quite illegal..
On the other hand though, everybody reacts differently to different substances.. If it was a paracetamol, there probobaly wouldn't be much of a news story behind it.

However because people were having fun.. the government will have to step in at some point.

I damn well knew it when I saw the thread title...
I knew it would be that fertiliser I heard about...
I do find it kinda stupid that people can just go and put substances into their bodies that do this sometimes, and I can't understand why, but that is because I am me, not them...
Well, even if it does get banned, I don't see it disappearing off of the streets now...

Meh, drugs are drugs in the end... legal or not, generally speaking they'll kill you in large quantities.

Tobacco is a good example of this, actually.

OMG! A CHILD DIED! EVERYONE GET WORKED UP!

People die every day, people younger and smarter then him who did nothing wrong other then be born in the wrong country. Getting worked up about him does injustice to them.

It's called Meow and even though it's legal, you'd should be sectioned for taking it. It's bloody fertiliser which is NOT something designed for human consumption. I've only heard of people taking in my area over the past few months and as far as I'm aware, it is a pretty new thing which is why it isn't illegal yet.

Very much this. Some people seem to think that as long as a drug is not illegal it's less deadly than the known stuff in larger quantities.

You're taking a risk when you take any drug, largely because you can't really know how your body will react - I knew a girl back in high school who had to be hospitalized after taking marijuana, as it caused some sort of reaction in her lungs that inhibited her breathing.

Seriously kids, just stick with alcohol. It tastes way better, and it's a lot more fun. It's a win win.

You take the drug for fun, you accept the consequences.

This was clearly natural selection doing its job.

Seriously kids, just stick with alcohol. It tastes way better, it makes people a lot more fun, and the worst that'll happen (unless you're a complete dipshit and drink to the point of getting poisoned, in which case you deserved it) is you'll puke. Alcohol is a win win win.
Actually, it's easier to kill yourself with alcohol than it is with marijuana [http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/1130.html].

Now, take the following link with a grain of salt, but in it, marijuana advocates give 11 comparisons to show how marijuana is safer than alcohol [http://www.saferchoice.org/content/view/24/53/]. Again, they are one-sided (points 8 through 11, while citing different sources of evidence, all say the same basic thing), but they do put forth evidence worth evaluating.

Also, unforeseen reactions to alcohol occur as well: a good friend of mine is allergic to it [http://www.foodreactions.org/intolerance/alcohol/index.html], and can't drink any because it would kill him. This sort of thing isn't common [http://www.mayoclinic.com/print/alcohol-allergy/AN00818/METHOD=print], but it's there.

All drugs are not available in all areas all the time. New things are discovered or brought to a region of the world that didn't previously have it all the time. It's not illegal because the gubment is ignorant it's because a given controled substance isn't previlent enough to constitute attention sometimes. At least that's one reason. I swear people are so black and white about drug laws.

Umm what about losing cognizence and getting raped? That seems to happen a lot.

I would think that it doesn't take a genius to figure out that drugs, illegal or otherwise, are bad. But apparently it isn't as obvious as I like to think.

Drugs are potent, no matter if they are "recreational" or medical, there's no way around that simple fact. Anything that impacts on your nervous system is extremly likely to have some kind of directly negative side effect, in fact I dare anyone to name one thing that alters the senses that doesn't have negative side effects.

I like the bit about the Victorian buyer-I got a different image from the reality;
"Good man, I have heard tell of a new intoxicant referred to as 'meowmeow' I wish to purchase a specimen forthwith so that I might imbibe it with my stalwart manservant Jenkins forthwith. GADZOOKS! The Plod-Flee! Make good with your legs over open ground!"

Why do people think a drug is more or less dangerous based on its legality? That shows an alarming display of trust towards policy makers, who are, to a man, a bunch of ignorant arseholes who will happily ban a potentialy useful drug, or watch millions burn and do nothing, based solely on how politicaly useful it is to demonise/turn a blindeye to a given drug? Bruce Lee croaked after taking an aspirin-Pete Doherty is still shuffling round making a twat of himself today.
If you stick a foreign substance in your body it might go tits up on you- you have to make an informed choice, which you won't get from politicians or those weird blokes in uniform that going round trying to tell everyone what to do...

Are you suggesting that people don't get raped while high? That's some pretty naive thinking.

Yeah, and unforseen reactions occur to mairjuana as well. There's very little difference. Fine, the whole "it's safer" thing is bullshit, but I stick by my assertion that alcohol is a lot more fun than marijuana.

Drugs are drugs. Whether they're legal, illeagal, or over the counter painkillers, they still affect your body. They still have the potential to kill you or mess you up badly. How hard is that to realise?
