I love Dragon Age Inquisition, let's start there. I feel like any of the sins of DA2 is forgiven utterly and Bioware is back on the right track(Note: DO NOT DISCUSS THIS, THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE AT HAND). There were, however, a few things I had issues with and the most silly one by far is the revelation during the Solas romance about the vallaslin, the elven facial tattoos. Solas reveals to the protagonist that what they thought were markings to honor the gods were in truth slave markings, marks of ownership that slave owners put on their slaves to honor the gods, but the honor was theirs, not the slave's. It's "yet another thing that dalish got wrong" as Your Character might say, which in my case at least made my girl utterly heartbroken.

Now, his explanation of how it was makes sense, but as someone who's done a lot of cultural studies that REALLY RUBBED ME THE WRONG WAY. It's silly, but I couldn't let that one pass, at all. Why? Because IT DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT. No matter what it was back then, that doesn't define what it is now. Cultures are arbitrary constructions, with values ascribed, not inherent. If the Dalish are using it to honor the gods, then that's what it is, no matter what it was thousands of years ago. Why? Because they say it is. For instance the word "Gay", which means "homosexual" now, but once meant "cheerful". Is anyone seriously going to claim that people are actually saying "the rights of cheerful" when they use the term "gay rights"? No, because that'd be bloody stupid. So what we have here is Solas dragging up some archaic meaning of what my character held dear in order to give her feeling of self worth a big, fat kick. Well meaning, maybe, but nevertheless idiotic.

Now... this gripe of mine is SILLY, also with the dalish being so much for "reclaiming" their past I suppose an argument could be made for it being different, but I don't buy into that. So, dear fellow escapists, what silly or irrelevant titbits in this or that game has rubbed you the wrong way to a disproportionate degree? Not legitimate concerns, but little bits that made you think "yeah I'm probably being stupid but gah!"

I totally read that as "Tiny Tina Gaming Gripes" and wondered if there was a character in DAI who was a reference to Borderlands. I am now disappointed, both in this thread and my apparent dyslexia.

If there was a Tiny Tina-like character in Dragon Age, I think they would bring a lot to the table.
I mean a psychotic girl would be great, it would add even more variety to the characters.

So yes, that is a genius idea.

OT:

I can understand those minor gripes.
Mostly for me, I was sad that there were not more references to the other games.

As for the bigger aspects. I do have problems, especially with the quest system, and how the game handles the Inquisitor's power.
Buuuuuuut, I won't go into them.

Isn't this Sera? They're both slightly weird looking, young and loco?

OT: I hate it when damage numbers are really small in RPGs. This is like my biggest gripe in Ni No Kuni. I know it makes no sense if 000 is on the end or not but still... grr.

Yea I love the game but there are a few minor annoyances for me...

1. Research items being in the junk folder, forcing me to go out of my way to double check and sell research items first, this does nothing but waste time and make me fear using sell all.

2. Chain hook doesn't work on passive animals, so I can pull hulking brutes 20ft across a battlefield but I cannot budge a nug.

3. Armour designs, theres only about 4 for each class, everything else is minor variations on this.

4. Romance options are lacking, didn't bother me in my first playthrough but in subsequent runs I want to experience everyones story which means I have to play certain sexes and classes.

5. Jumping, such a beautiful addition to the game. But lets make some shards appear in areas that require a jumping puzzle to get to, which again isn't a bad thing. But NOW lets not quite make the ability to jump onto the required narrow ledges work, lets make it so sometimes you randomly slide off or better yet, get launched across the air away from the platform.

Don't get me wrong, the games plus sides far outweigh the negative and will get a full completion from me and the multiplayer is fun if a little buggy right now. Hopefully gripes will be addressed soon.

I get where you are going, but while the two characters are crazy.
They are both captivated within different kinds of crazy. Sera seems to have a more noble goal, even if she has to fuck over the bigger powers to complete it. While Tiny Tina ... her goal is revenge, and not just any revenge, but the kind of revenge that would probably make us throw up.

So I would say that TT is more psycho crazy, and Sera is more noble/Robin Hood crazy.

Still, both crazy.
Though TT is much more younger, making it much more horrifying. D:

OT: Upgrades, only three to Skyhold. It makes me quite disappointed.
Same with the armour appearance, and with the lack of really, really long daggers. (I know, ruins the whole point of a dagger, but I feel rule of cool overwrites that.)

Oh yeah, thrones ... ugh, how they hell do you upgrade it to make it look cooler. I would say it would make a difference to the judgement aspect of your power, but you barely judge anyone in the game. :/

Well, this isn't a tiny gripe, but quite a big one; The hair options. Thirteen different varieties of bald. Great, Bioware, fantastic.

Yeah, that got me too. Normally I can find a nice hair style for my female character. I like either a simple ponytail or nice flowing hair, about shoulder length. Not all braided up or brushed back or falling into the character's eyes or whatever. When I saw how many bald options there where while I was still disappointed with the hair choices, I was a little miffed.

The romances in this one don't seem as strong or as interesting either. Which is a same, because BioWare always made good romances before. Dorain is good, but I just can't play a gay male. I think Vivian would have been fun--elegant and mysterious--but you can't with her. Sera is just plain annoying. I feel about her how other people felt about Merrill. Shut up and stop whining and take things seriously. Iron Bull is funny, but I just can't see it working in my head. Solas is boring and stiff to me and is so wrapped up in his, "I'm better than the rest of my race because I know the TRUTH!" attitude that it's off-putting.
Apparently the only one I can go for is Cassandra (that scene with the book was hilarious), but since I'm playing as a female first, she'll have to wait. Cullen and Josphine are just...it's weird romancing someone not in my party.

Where's the Liara character? The cute, kind-of-shy but really sweet girl? I miss Merrill...

When it comes to the OP's complaint, I think that seems in character for him. He prefers the past it seems, always dreaming in the Fade amd watching history.

Plus, spoiler from the end of the game:

He is kind of ancient. While that was from the past, he existed even before that. So his view may be a tad different on the matter

Also, it is worth noting, as I recall, that if you choose to keep your markings (as my elf did) your response basically is 'Whatever they were before doesn't matter' and Solas says you're perfect the way you are. Its been a week, so I'm a little vague on the exact phrasing, but I think that was about right.
