Most of my life I've spent within the United States. I've been to different states and cities, but one of my biggest regrets is I never leave this country. My family travels sometimes, but I've only been to Canada, the UK, and Poland. However, we only shuffle around doing the touristy stuff such as look at famous monuments, famous castles, etc. I never get to actually talk to the people who live in the country I'm visiting, and I miss out on meeting new people who live in a completely different part of the world than I do. Joining the Escapist changed this, where I actually get to talk to you guys.

That being said, tell me something about the place you live. I don't care what it is as long as it's something I would never know if I had my face in a map and a tourist book. Or if you can't think of anything, you can ask us Americans something you've always wanted to know about the United States.

I guess I can start by saying: The most popular beers that you'll probably find at any party in the state I live in, Illinois, are Keystone Lite and Natural Ice, because it seriously costs $13 for 30 beers. Tastes like ratpiss

I live in the only North American city and one of the few in the entire world with a standing waterfall running through it's interior.

I'm from Ontario, which is an absolutely beautiful province of Canada if you know where to look. In my opinion the Bruce Peninsula is heaven on Earth, specifically the small town of Lion's Head.

I'm from New Hampshire, it's pretty in the fall. Not much interesting stuff happened here, however.

Interesting, Norfolk is a town? It's always been my default name in video games.

Anyway, I'm from Novato in Marin Country, California. Beautiful town, but boring and we aren't considered members of Marin County by the other towns as have much more open space and not as industrialized.

I live right outside what was formerly known as one of the most dangerous cities in America, but my town's pretty much a regular suburban town on the outside.

>_>. Yes it is a town. It has the biggest naval port in the world! I'm surprised no-one knows of it!
I know of Norfolk because it was a space station in Freelancer in the New York system...

Ohhh... what part of Illinois do you live in? I used to live there until about 2001.

That's when I moved to Perry, GA. I like it here. We have the Georgia National Fair every year. It is held in October and really cool.

Then there is the Warner Robins Air Force Base close by.

Not too much really about my town... but I love it anyway.

Name sounds familiar... I think I lived there when I was really young. My 'dad' worked on submarines.

I live in a suburb about 20 miles North of Atlanta, Georgia. Even though I'm not in the city itself it pretty well sets the tone for all the communities in a 40 mile radius around it.

Fun facts!
-Atlanta used to be the capital of the Confederacy until it was burnt to the ground.
-Old people and school teachers will remind you of this fact frequently.
-Atlanta has an aquarium that cost millions and millions of dollars to build.
-Atlanta had to lay off (sack, for you Brits reading this) a large number of police officers last year.
-Atlanta was already extremely dangerous BEFORE the layoffs.
-Georgia has several 'blue laws'. Alcohol can't be purchased on Sundays unless you go to a bar and have someone serve you. That's right...on Sunday you have to drink and drive because you can't buy beer and take it home. There are several counties that are completely dry and prohibit all sales of alcohol.
-Atlanta has almost no planning in its road system. Most of the roads in the metro area were put in wherever the hell the engineer felt like. The result is a large number of streets with the word 'peachtree' in them that run for miles and miles in many different directions. No, really...it's like the person who drafted the blueprints sneezed while drawing the roads and decided 'to hell with it, looks fine to me'.
