Just a little heads-up and follow-up on the Telltale closing down story.

Telltale Games is closing, liquidation underway and games being removed from Steam [https://gamedaily.biz/article/385/telltale-games-is-closing-liquidation-underway-and-games-being-removed-from-steam]

Thus far Tales of Monkey Island, Back To The Future and Jurassic Park have been removed. The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Tales Of The Borderlands and most others are still up, but it remains to be seen whether it'll stay that way.

Anyone who is still holding off on some Telltale games, now is probably as good a time as any to get them.

Also, no need to worry if you own any Telltale games already delisted. They'll stay in your Steam library and you can redownload them. You just can't buy them through Steam anymore.

I'm guessing these have to do with license being revoked or something similar

It's a weird and somewhat unique position. I can see the games and understand they may soon be removed, that this is the chance to get them before they're gone. But at the same time, if I had wanted them I would already have long since bought them in one sale or another.

As it turns out, I already own Tales of Monkey Island and Back to the Future so that's those....I also own Batman, Game of Thrones and The Wolf Among Us. Sooooo....are any of the others worth it? I see Guardians of the Galaxy, XCOM Batman Enemy Within, Minecraft season 1 and 2, a lot of Sam and Max stuff....

Oh, and somehow I also picked up Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2 and 400 days, but don't have New Frontier (and can't buy it?) or Final Season. Not sure what's going on there.

It's interesting, in just another thread, someone mentioned Cryostasis as a favourite game of theirs and sure enough, that's long since disappeared from Steam, removed since the company behind it no longer exists. I wonder if that's the case, but since these are licensed games mentioned you may well be right.

Out of interest, I even tried looking on the grey market key sites and no Cryostasis keys available to be had at all. It's probably the most recent instance of "abandonware" I've heard of, where it cannot be bought legally anywhere, no one has the rights to it, no one is there to get paid for it, etc. It's so odd to think that Telltale games may soon be abandonware themselves.

I know the original Prey game from...2005 or 2006, in one XMas Steam sale they ran out of keys. I actually had it in my cart as it ran out and I went to pay. For years I was annoyed it was gone and never came back, but even that I found a key for. It's still not back, I have no idea if it can be bought first hand anymore.

Tales From The Borderlands seems to be well-regarded. Although I suspect it depends on whether you like Borderlands style of humor.

No, I don't think you can. A Steam key should still work tho and like you said, someone can still get it from key resellers, assuming they don't mind some rather shady stuff.

If I'm not mistaken, Wolfenstein 2009 is another game like that.

Phew. I'm good on this style of game for a while having Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, The Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us, Tales of the Borderland (And a Batman game, Guardians of the Galaxy, Walking Dead 2, Game of Thrones). Missed out on Monkey Isle. Rats.
