In my English class we were studying the concept of stereotypes, and to begin we read a list of the 100 words that remind people of England (that wasn't the exact title, but I think you get the idea). I wont post the list here [small]A)Because I can't remember the top 10[/small] and B) Because I want to see what you'd actually put as your top 10.

Somewhere in my list I would put the inevitable 'fish and chips' and 'tea', perhaps with a bit of 'red postbox' and 'black taxi' on the side.

Of course, I'm English, and sadly the words 'chav' and 'knife-crime' may slip their way in as well.

But, Escapists, what would you put on your list?

Never a truer word was spoken.

However, I feel obliged to contribute, so here goes:

Surveillance, Nanny-state (it is one word. Skeptics will be shot) Redcoats, the Empire, Yorkshire Pud, Pound Sterling, Churchill, good beer, great accents, pipes (as in the ones men used to smoke with)

A semi-patriotic list, and fairly positive, apart from the first 2 :p

Edited to remove spelling fails.

Actually, knife crime's at an all time low in twenty years, but the papers wouln't want you believing that now, would they?

Besides that, the victims of most knife crime are other teenages not older people, so I don't really see why 50 somethings are scared about it.
