Anyone else seen the trailers for this new tv series?

Its about the end of the world and people getting a 2nd chance by travelling back in time to when the dinosuars roamed the earth. Why the hell would you go back that far. Does anyone know why there is this high budget tv series with stephen speilberg and actors that i recognise, with a really wierd idea?

Why wouldnt they just travel back 20000 years or even 200 years to before the industrial revolution. Traveling back to the dinosuars time would mean they will have to fight of dinosuars and what even killed off the dinosuars.

Anyone else seen a show that just made you ask why the fudge? Dont mention lost, we all know that show was cookoo bananas.

Terra Nova looks kind-of amusing, hope that shows makes it to UK TV as it would worth a shot at watching an episode, even if the premise does seem a little wacky... (though going back 200 or 20000 years doesn't make sense either as you'd be competing with other humans and the end of the world would still be from a few hundred years to a few thousand years away, not a particulary comfortable thought.)

I think you just answered your own question there.

yeah but the world ended cause of humans not because of some asteroid etc. so going back 200 years might be enough to make it so people dont go down the same path. or it might just give people an extra 200 years to solve resource issues and prevent wars.

also dont you think that humans from the future could take over the world from the past. with automatic guns and explosives and stuff.

I don't personally believe that if time travel was possible then events could be changed, so the world would stll be destined to end. And no, unless you transported hundreds of millions of the current world's population back into the past I doubt that you could conquer the past, as you wouldn't have enough people to maintain an empire however good your weapons, also you'd be screwed when you run of ammo or repair parts due to lack of factories.

Oh why do filmmakers like creating time paradoxes?

Oh that's right - money + stupidity = profit?
It isn't necessary a temporal paradox, mind you. Can be a closed loop or alternative timeline.

is my spelling that upsetting for you?
Just ignore him, it isn't worth getting involved in.

OT: Looks like an interesting show. Can't really say much about it.
Hopefully it will also air on British television, eventually. Make a nice change from what I normally see on the TV >.>
Although going back that far is a bit odd >.>

I'd laugh if the series cliffhanger/reveal would be that this bunch of time travelling humans were responsible for extinction of the dinosaurs and wiped themselves out as well.

Then later on Humans evolve...again!
That's not very likely considering the show is set 85 million years ago, 20 million years before the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Various other complications aside, I'd track down the fathers of the Industrial Revolution and systematically kill them all, leaving behind a single battery at the scene of the crime. The idea behind this being that we can skip the bit where we rape the environment with carbon fumes and just get to the nice, clean electricity.

However, in reality this wouldn't work. I guess I could just teach all the aformentioned industrialists about the dangers of pollution, but I'm not sure they'd care. I don't, and I'm the one who's supposed to be making a difference about it!

I suppose the idea would be that they have full control over everything,if they went back to before the industrial revolution, the government would tell them to sod off and histroy would repeat itself. This way when humanity emerges (which it hasn't yet), the old humans can control it.
