Okay here is the deal, I am doing an ethnography, which is a 7-14 page report on another culture, I choice the interactive video gaming culture of Team Fortress 2. I have several questions and if you could answer them, that would be wonderful, thank you all so much!!

3. How long have you been playing TF2? Since it came out, over two steam accounts
4. As a player, what are some of the ways you interact with fellow TF2 players? Headshots and shankings.

5. Is there certain "lingo" that is appropriate for game play? On the server I play on mainly, no, not really. It's a really pleasant place. The idiots get banned or muted pretty quick.

6. What are some of the "pet peeves" you possess when playing this game? Not having the Backburner. It's the only weapon I don't have and if it's as cheap as people seem to think, then I'd like a turn with it. I also can't play 2Fort because it just devolves into a sniper war, which is a shame since it was my favorite map years ago as a HL1 Mod.

7. Are there certain people whom make you angry, an example would be a "noob"? Just rude people. People that act like they're playing on xbox live, but that's a real rarity.
8. What is your favorite character to play and what is your least favorite character to be? My favorite would be the engineer though my play time doesn't reflect that. I've far more time with the spy because I'm trying to work out the nuances of the class lately. It's one of those easy to play difficult to master types for me. My least favorite to play would be the scout but I do enjoy trying to peg people with baseballs from time to time.

9. How are you alike with your favorite and least favorite character? I would put forth that I am like neither.

10. What is your favorite mode and least favorite, an example would be Prophunt, or Capture the flag? Control point maps are my favorite by Payload maps are seeing a bit more play time lately. Least favorite would be capture the flag.

11. What are some tactics you use in the game to win? Offensive Engineering is my new love. Placing simple turrets in odd places and just trying to upgrade them as I gather weapons for metal. I don't build a set up there because I don't expect the position to hold, I only expect it to catch the opposing team off guard so my team can push forward.

I shoot them. I do not like to talk.

Eh, this is a server thing, although I try to play on servers that do not have rampant profanity.
6. What are some of the "pet peeves" you possess when playing this game?
Demomen spamming grenades, very aggravating.
7. Are there certain people whom make you angry, an example would be a "noob"?
I haven't had to deal with any of them.
8. What is your favorite character to play and what is your least favorite character to be?
I like Pyros, my least favorite is probably either heavy or snipers.
9. How are you alike with your favorite and least favorite character?
Hmmm... interesting question, I guess we are not really alike at all. Although me and the Heavy are on opposite ends of the weight spectrum
10. What is your favorite mode and least favorite, an example would be Prophunt, or Capture the flag?
Favorite is CP, CTF is okay, and I dislike the deathmatch. KotH is good too.
11. What are some tactics you use in the game to win?
Keep my flamer going, and don't let up on burning players, also, go hard, and go fast.

4. As a player, what are some of the ways you interact with fellow TF2 players? I shoot digital avatars of themselves with virtual bullets. Frag them. Post motivational battle songs on the escapist TF2 board.
5. Is there certain "lingo" that is appropriate for game play? CP (thankfully) has nothing to do with children there.
6. What are some of the "pet peeves" you possess when playing this game? Framerate issues due to my crap processor.
7. Are there certain people whom make you angry, an example would be a "noob"? Audio spammers, usually blasting poor quality music down a terrible microphone. The mute button is not something that makes me angry.
8. What is your favorite character to play and what is your least favorite character to be? Love Pyro, slightly dislike playing medic .
9. How are you alike with your favorite and least favorite character? I love setting things on fire, I mumble. As for medic I know basic first aid? I'm not German though.
10. What is your favorite mode and least favorite, an example would be Prophunt, or Capture the flag? CTF or 5CP.
11. What are some tactics you use in the game to win? Teamwork, be what the team needs not what you want to play as.

5. Is there certain "lingo" that is appropriate for game play? - I don't think I've ever encountered any like, inappropriate/trash talk since I've been playing. If thats what you mean?
6. What are some of the "pet peeves" you possess when playing this game? Sentry guns and pyros.
7. Are there certain people whom make you angry, an example would be a "noob"? - People who complain when they die. If you can't take the pain, it ain't your game.
8. What is your favorite character to play and what is your least favorite character to be? - Favourite: Spy. Least Favourite: Pyro.
9. How are you alike with your favorite and least favorite character? - Not at all. Im not a buttefly knife wielding french man who can disguise himself as any of the opposing team.
10. What is your favorite mode and least favorite, an example would be Prophunt, or Capture the flag? CTF on 2Fort is all I play really. I don't really like/understand the other games due to lack of instruction.
11. What are some tactics you use in the game to win? Run into the enemy base as a spy, disguise as an enemy player and use invisibility if needed, sap any sentry guns in the intelligence room if needed, then run the heck out of there and score the point.

5. Lingo.....nope, not really. There's the usual "pwned" and "gg" and other stuff present on all multiplayer fps's

9. I believe that most people are maggots (Like a soldier), drinking is fun (demoman)

Mostly SPIES!!, the TF2 community at large is generally nice to noobs until they mature to average, then the ripping and tearing begins

Most is Heavy/Soldier, least is Spy

I enjoy blowing things up, and am adept at being stealthy

Favorite would be straight-up CP, and I don't really have a least favorite

Flanking, surprise attacks, distractions, and challenging enemies to honourable hand-to-hand combat

4. I use the chatbox, use voicechat, and, of course, I play TF2 with them
5. Usually anything that's not genuinely threatening or outrageously offensive goes, but there are some servers that uphold a ban on swearing.
6. When medics hang back and heal one goddamn sniper, ignoring the rest of the team.
7. Obnoxious noobs who feel that they're better than everyone else and have the compulsion to let everyone know in a derisive manner.
8. Favorite: Demoman or Medic - Least Favorite: Heavy
9. Favorite: Well, I'm not black, nor am I Scottish and have 2 eyes, so no similarity with Demoman, but I like to make things better so I suppose I'm like the medic in that respect. The only similarity I share with the heavy is my interest in guns.
10. Favorite: CTF - Least Favorite: Payload race
11. Depends on the situation, if you want specifics to cite in your paper, message me.

4. As a player, what are some of the ways you interact with fellow TF2 players? Ingame chatbox, Mic and voice commands (z,x or c and then 1-9)
5. Is there certain "lingo" that is appropriate for game play? Calling out enemy positions and classes (Solly top left, demo on point, sasha heavy, left flanking pyro etc). Likewise instructions like "on my medic" (when I yell medic, you hit the charge. Not before, not after.) and "next cap, next cap" (keep running, we can cap 2 points in one move if you run to the next point and let me cap this one on my own). Oh, and always make sure you thank people for healing you, and a small "gg" at the end of a game can mean getting invited back next time. As in life, a little manners go a long way.
6. What are some of the "pet peeves" you possess when playing this game? Spies stabbing me in the back. Actually, deaths that I can't prevent full stop. I've got no problem with going down because I lost a firefight, I hate dying from an enemy I couldn't have hit even if I'd tried.
7. Are there certain people whom make you angry, an example would be a "noob"? AFKers. They really get on my tits, they basically scrap any team balance by sitting in the respawn room.

People that go out of their way just to kill ME. A team of seven and he goes for the least vulnerable person.

KABLOOIE! ... Ahem, Demoman's my favourite, with Heavy tailing closeby. I really dislike playing Sniper since lag makes it impossible to aim.

Ironically, I am more like Sniper in terms of solitude and focus than the Demoman, though I do tend to be reckless and carefree.

Territory Control/Hydro and Payload Race/Pipeline tied together. Least favourite is Arena.

11. What are some tactics you use in the game to win?
I do what I do best: Go where a concentration of enemies set up base and rain stickies in their faces. This gets very effective in Hydro since they fall for it a LOT.
