Why would I be better off buying Team Fortress 2 for my Netbook rather than my XBOX? From the point that I'm standing right now, it looks like the XBOX has easy controls that I am already used to and guaranteed top performance at all times.

I ask this because I am currently arguing with myself over whether to get it for XBOX or PC, I know how much we all like Valve and I know we all realise PCs are better, but I doubt my netbook will be able to run it as well as my XBOX can.

Xbox has achievements, that's the only reason for it.

PC is superior in every other way.

EDIT: After being quoted 5+ times... I mean achievements with gamerscore, they're different from steam achievements.

Get it for PC, the PC version is far superior in every way. It's been maintained by Valve a lot more than it's console brothers. The PC controls are simple anyway.

The PC has achievements as well... Other than that, this. PC is pretty awesome.

This is true... but to run it on a netbook? I think the OP is right when they say that that machine won't be able to run the game well.

PC, if you can run it. However, once Steam comes to the Ps3 I do believe Valve will release all of the updates for TF2 on the Xbox as well. So you can possibly wait until then?

Its just a guess, but one that makes sense.

I know steam has achievements but... they're just not the same.

No one plays the Xbox version, it isn't updated, its not fun, there is no new features, the only good thing about the Xbox Version is the achievements and the fact you get all of the other Orange Box games within.

I really don't know anything about netbooks, so I really don't know.

You can use a controller on PCs, so your control point is moot.

As for running it on a netbook, why bother trying? You can't run it.

I preffer TF2 in the pc for a few reasons:
1. Many more maps; both official Valve and Community ones
2. Class and General Updates. Opens up a larger array of choices for play style.
3. Skin and HUD modifications. Make TF2 your own and customise it to your own style.

Regerding framerate issue, there are many skin mods which can increase your framerate durastically; an example of this is the 'Phongless Models Pack', which removes the reflective lighting from models, boosting framerate.

Lastly, the fact that the PC TF2, and Valve, community is much larger than the XBOX 360 one. Also, features like dedicated servers and an easy 'Jump in and out' method, making it easy for going straight into a game, make the game much more streamlined.

In conclusion:
-More Gameplay Options
-More Players
-No clunky matchmaking

It would run like balls.

I'd say 360 unless you have a solid computer. Its the only reason I don't have it. Stupid lousy slow as hell laptop.

PC is always better, if you want to continue playing video games you will need to get used to the PC. Also, the PC is a lot easier to use for FPS, however this means people will be better than you, takes time getting used to.

PC version is better. Seriously. More upkeep by Valve, and in my opinion a better community. If you're worried about running it on a netbook, just check out this site to see if you meet minimum specs. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri

OP, if you're worried about your computer's performance, this thread from the TF2 forums might help.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1149207

It contains instructions on how to drastically increase performance in TF2.

This. A lot of people seem to be jumping over the fact that this will be attempted to run on a Netbook...which won't happen. Netbooks don't have the processor speed, memory, nor the graphics cards required to run any games. Sorry man, looks like you're stuck with it on the Xbox, and at that point, I wouldn't even bother getting it.

It probably wouldn't run on a netbook. At least on the 360, you'd be able to PLAY the thing; on a netbook, you have the ability to say "hey we get free updates and new weapons and maps" but one thing you can't say is "I'm having so much fun playing this game."

See there's my problem. I don't want to have a game that I can't run. Of course I am looking into making a custom desktop... but I don't know how long it would take.
