One of my friends has had this moment and it's tearing them apart. I'll post the details they sent me and I hope someone here recognizes it!
"did you ever hear of a space game, not unlike eve, you start off with a small fighter or medic or egineer ship and you fly around the universe gaining ex which you can get to larger ships. The difference is although it looks completely 3d, its on a single plane so you dont have to worry about flying up or down etc. in this game were 3 races.. a clean style federtion type (human) a dirty style alien type ships (human) and a race of aliens not unlike the shadows from Babylon 5.
It was free to play but at the end of every day, all free players had their exp reset so they were limited to getting smaller ships.
I dont recall if its called fleet admiral or space admiral .. something like that?
I usd to play the aiens, they had massive firepower but no shields but they could cloak. We wold hang out in wolf packs and prowls skirmishes and when we saw a damaged ship leave the frey to get assistance we would slowly move in under their radar. and at the last moment all open fire destroying hte ship utterly. Then we were vulnerable so we would turn and flee quickly until our cloaking devices were once again operational.
This ws a purpose built mmo game with 3 races. the universe was large and accurate, earth solar system was accurat. and the jumpgate was just beyond pluto. we would set up engineers around pluto to increase the planetary defenses so if anything came through the gate they would get a welcome reception instnatly and acted as an early warning system."
