I am an avid reader of Scifi, and have been since I was very young. This means that I have read hundreds of stories that have stuck in my brain, but I can't remember where they are published, or their titles. This is the purpose of this thread. Many of us on this website love Scifi, and many of us are in the same boat as me. What Scify/fantasy story have you read that you can remember details about that you can't remember the name of. Lets help each-other people!

Here is mine right now. An apprentice painter learns that he has the power to create things with his mind after he creates the pigments for the color green for a painting he needs. Afterwards he goes to a school where he learns how to better create things with his mind.

This is an incredibly terrible description of this book, but it is what I remember. What books do you remember the details of that you can't remember the title of?

My problem tends to be after a while all the books I read 5+ years ago start to blur together in my mind. About three years ago I started using Goodreads.com and this has been much less of an issue. Even at about one hundred and fifty books a year I can still keep them straight.

Same as my escapist account name. You can check out my read bookshelf here [http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/4550816-synobal?format=html&shelf=read]. It's mostly genre fiction I read for fun and relaxation not to contemplate deep and weighty truths.

So I see you've rated your high-school reading very poorly ;) I think Romeo and Juliet deserve a way higher score!

I haven't even heard of 95% of these authors lol, just the very well known ones like Iain M Banks, all the classics and Terry P

I find it too annoying to keep up to date.

I liked Julius Ceaser way more than Romeo and Juliet. Honestly though I've never been a huge fan of the Bard. I recognize the timelessness and such of most his stories but they aren't for me. Most of them are Urban Fantasy, Scifi, and Fantasy. I shift between each genre as my interest waxs and wanes.

One book I vaguely remember reading is an old young adult (I think) fantasy book that I read many years ago (close to fifteen years).
All I can remembers is that the main character was a young man who discovered that he had elemental powers (he could conjure/summon water, fire, earth etc.) and ended up fighting an evil magic user/overlord.
There was also an older man who was a Seer that had jet black eyes. He originally wore colored contacts to hide his unnatural eye color, but when they were destroyed he went back to wrapping a cloth around his eyes to make him look like a blind person.
I can't remember anything more, other than that it was a fairly short book by my current standards (under two hundred-fifty/three hundred pages).

Are you talking about

http://www.amazon.com/The-Black-Prism-ebook/dp/B003JTHY76/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1363769642&sr=1-1&keywords=the+black+prism

The Black Prism is an average fantasy novel about an interesting magic system based around colors and limited use.

YES! That is the book that I was thinking of. Thank you! I hope that other people find the book that they are looking for, and if this thread kicks off, I will probably come back thinking of another book that I can't remember the name of.
