That voice. It doesn't work.

I suddenly felt the urge to watch the old Legend of Zelda TV show, and even though I was aware it most certainly was going to be an adventure in masochism, I didn't quite expect this. After watching the first episode for only two and a half minutes as of yet, I've said, "Oh, Goddamnit," three times, and all for the same reason. Not only are Link's lines just cringe-worthy, the icing on the cake is the voice itself.

Actually, scratch that. The voice was a bit too substantial in suck to be something as insignificant as icing.

The point is that voice didn't fit Link in the least. It's amazing how much a mis-cast voice actor can hurt an experience.

Here's the discussion point: what characters have you come across in television, games, or whatever, whose voices are in no way suitable to the character with which they are associated?

In addition to Link from the Zelda TV series, I'd like to put forth Exhibit B, Blanka from Street Fighter IV. If you've heard that voice, I'm pretty sure you don't need me to explain how much it doesn't fit.

The default Shepard from Mass Effect.

The voice did not fit. I would agree on Blanka's voice from Street Fighter IV. I'd always thought his voice would be more primal, more guttural. Segfried from the original Soul Calibur (well, in the arcade version) sounded like Link from Ocarina of Time. His voice has matched from Soul Calbur II on.

I have not really found any very strange voice choices from cartoons or any other type of animation though.

I remember thinking that too. They really needed something like dragon age where you could at least choose the least horrible out of four or five different horrible ones.

The President's (I think) bodyguard from X-men 3 (I think).
He's this big, black buff man, that could probably snap any one of us like a twig. However, he sounds as though his balls have not dropped.

Orks (or is it orcs? whatever)in Oblivion. I don't know, I feel like it just wasn't right.

And on a slightly related note, the voice responses from units in the first Command and Conquer. It sounds like they're rubbing the walkie talkie in a gravel driveway during a thunderstorm.

I'll get you out of the way.
...I'm talking about justified homicide.
...Against you.
Completely off-topic, I'm sure, but I just love the way all of the 'u's extended into the infinite blackness of the side images. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

if it counts how about those god dammed beggars in Oblivion?[sup]tm[/sup]
they start sounding like a typical beggar what with the squeaky pitiful whine of a guy who has a pound of fruit next to his bedroll underneath a partial roof
then end up talking like a regular 1600's aristocrat

The female Shepard was really well voiced, though.

The US Ape Escape 2 voices. After being used to the EU ones, I listened to the US ones and they sounded so wrong.

Another one came to mind, thanks to Scumpernickle's post. Who the hell thought casting a woman (with a really high-pitched voice, no less) as Dragon Ball Z's Goku was a good idea?

Almost any old-school anime, back when the dubbing was done (I think) for about fifteen bucks and a bottle of Wild Irish Rose. More contemporarily:

Negi Springfield from Negima (duh). I get that he's supposed to be a little kid, but something about the voice is just terrible. They should have taken a page out of Avatar and gotten an actual kid.

Priss from Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. Oh, god, her voice was terrible. Don't even get me started on the singing.

Those are the two that really come to mind.

It's Bastilla. She's a professional voice actress, and actually good at her job to boot.
