I haven't shopped at gamestop in about oh 4 years or so because i much prefer a local game store instead they're used games cheaper, they're trade in value is better, and the staff is less... persistent.

But I betrayed them and I am paying the price. I am a fan of the x-men legends/marvel ultimate alliance series they are very fun beat-um-ups to play with three of your pals. I was lured in by the fact that one character (Juggernaut) can only be gotten by pre-ordering at gamestop.

I says to myself "it's the same price new no matter where I go so i might as well go there. Couldn't hurt? An extra character would be pretty neat.

So I got the game yesterday you know what they told me? I have to sign up on the website and enter my receipt number they will give me a code to put in the PSN a day later.

TWO days later i get an e-mail back saying it was a 'while supplies last' offer and they ran out of codes. I look online to see if there is more info on this. YA know what I found? That it doesn't matter if you pre-ordered because the receipts are no different. So tons of people got on and used up their 'limited supply'. I know it's just one character (who probably isn't all that amazing) but it's the principal of the thing. I wasn't told till I got my game that it was limited supply. This is a bait and switch.

I should not have shopped at gamestop and I'm getting what I deserved: disappointment.

I know I said this 4 years ago but I mean it this time. I am never shopping there again no matter how enticing the offer.

Fallout 3, GT4, and Assassins Creed didn't equal enough to get me fallout 3 for PC. Their buyback price is a joke.

I never really had a problem with my local gamestop, apart from being the only game focused store within 100 miles (best buy and blockbuster don't count) I dont really hae a choice anyway.

The people there are informed and acually know what there talking about. And the only time they offered me anything was the edge card, which i bought since i go there alot. So i overall like it.

I despise Gamestop as they acquired the smaller local chain I used to frequent and promptly transformed it into a store with absolutely nothing I want in it, where before it was literally the only place I would ever shop.

the only problems I've ever had are my own fault. i went to redeem a pre-order at a different store and lost 10 bucks and the special stuff. but it was fable 2 so w/e. and the buyback price I see as "if you want to sell it in a week on eBay be our guest. if you want to sell it immediately you come to us." I've never really had a problem.

All we have where I live is Gamestop (One street has two right across from each other, good business plan guys) I've never even seen another store that sells games exclusivley besides EB Games and they're basically the "Section 8" to Gamestop's "Halo" If you catch my meaning.

The deal with the extra 'content' was ONLY thru gamestop. I don't even like preordering at all.

I buy most of my games at JB Hi-fi (which based on their branding is probably Best Buy in the US) because I can usually save about $30 (they routinely sell new games for $79 when the typical RRP is $109), but I still tend to preorder at EB Games for titles I deem important enough to preorder, simply because my usual store is more conveniently located. If there's Gamestop/EB Games bonuses for preordering, so much the better, but these aren't selling points for me.
I also never trade in games, and very seldomly buy pre-owned.
