Well, I just got back from the Australian premiere of The Avengers, and all I can say is...

WOW.

Holy mother-fucking shit this movie is awesome. The characters, the plot, the CGI, the sound, EVERYTHING about this movie is awesome.

If you are a fan of lasers, explosions, action, characters, explosions, movies, marvel, Joss Whedon, or anything good, watch this movie. Don't pirate it, don't wait for the DVD, go out to the cinema and watch it in 3D. It is the only movie I have ever seen that is made better with 3D.

I cannot recommend this movie enough. You MUST see this. By far the best film released in 2012.

I can't agree more. I saw it with a mate today and loved every second of it.

Marvel, ya done good.

Oh yeah, Joss Whedon took what Marvel have been doing and just ran with it brilliantly. I still can't believe how funny it managed to be without taking away from everything else. Also I hate Joss Whedon so much, and everyone who has seen the movie will know exactly what I mean.

Also I want Hawkeye's quiver really really bad.

Just came back from it. It was pretty damn good, and Mark Ruffalo really worked as Hulk, much to my astonishment.

Incidentally, does anyone know who the guy at the very end was, after the credits? I didn't recognise him. Kinda looked like Ron Perlman though.

I actually don't know what you mean, but I haven't read the avengers comics; did he mess with canon or something?

Thanos I suspect. Infinity Gauntlet, The Mad Titan, seems like the obvious character out of any I can think of.

I hope not; that would be super petty. My guess is probably
when Agent Coulson died
which was sad, but I think really worked in the story anyway.

I wouldn't hate him for it. The most annoying part for me was when Hulk punched Thor towards the end. It was totally hilarious and everything, but it was just so cartoony, it felt really out of place. But meh, it was very much a Joss Whedon movie, and you could see he was having a ball making it, so I forgive him for it :)

Didn't feel out of place to me, I thought the whole movie had a very well executed "comic-book" feel to it.

You should watch them both, because they're both great, but I would highly recommend seeing at least Thor first. The first Hulk movie is almost irrelevant in regards to The Avengers (basically, if you know the guy turns big and green when he gets angry, and that he knows a lot about Gamma radiation, you're good), but the Thor back-story plays a BIG part in the Avengers, so I'd highly recommend seeing that first.

Actually, I really wasn't getting much of a comic-book vibe, although that could have just been the reek of Joss Whedon overpowering it. In fact, I've never really got a comic book vibe from any of the Marvel movies, 'cept maybe Spiderman. These superhero movies feel more like they're trying to be as realistic as possible about the strengths and limitations of the characters, and the action sequences play out similarly. I dunno, I just felt like it came out of nowhere, like the sort of thing you'd see in an anime. Anyway, like I said, it was super funny, and I'm not really complaining, just observing :)

Seeing it with my boyfriend tomorrow (when it opens here in the UK). Fucking. Stoked. Even more than I was previously because my trusted source of movie reviews (by which I mean the one I usually agree with) gave it four stars :D Superhero movies usually end up with solid three star reviews from this magazine, so I'm expecting this to be something special...

Just got to wait to see it. I'm guessing I'm going to be dodging spoilers everywhere in the next little while.
