If I had to choose any of them to be the best would have to be Elder Scrolls:V. I knoow it was pretty predictible but you have to admit it really is good. Although all the other ones are clearly good the only one that came close was Elder Scrolls:IV. The only thing that stoped it was that it was that it wasn't as adventurous and you couldn't fight dragons. But you did see only one dragon, well it's better than nothing.

Skyrim. It's the only one I've played so I've got to pick that one by default.

I am stuck Between Morrowind and Skyrim.

Morrowind is better in the story front, but skyrim blows it out of the water gameplay wise.

I guess I will tie.

I too, am stuck between Morrowind and Skyrim. I know fuck all about the first two games or Redguard and Oblivion has aged extremely poorly. Hmm, possibly Skyrim. Maybe? Morrowind has more depth and good lore, but Skyrim has better gameplay and a much, much, much better game world to explore.

I'm just gonna have to go with Skyrim for those reasons. But both games are brilliant.

Going to have to go with Daggerfall.

That game was absolutely massive and I loved every second of it.

It also boasts the biggest game world map ever.

Morrowind. I could spend all day giving reasons for this, but at the end of the day, I am able to spend much longer in Morrowind than Skyrim or Oblivion before I get bored and want to play something else, and I have yet to get comfortable enough with Daggerfall to start enjoying it (though not for lack of trying). I've never tried Arena, so I can't really judge it.

To be fair I haven't played Skyrim, but I have played Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion and of those Morrowind is my favourite, no question.

The world was just incredibly unique and interesting to explore, everything felt hand-crafted and as a result just felt so much more alive. I actively wanted to search around, to talk to the inhabitants of these strange places and to learn more about the culture and past! With the other two I unfortunately never really got that. In Daggerfall the world was massive but the games visuals and tech limitations at the time really did let it down, meanwhile in Oblivion the tech was fantastic but the world so dull I left bored after a few hours gameplay.

Morrowing meanwhile might have had weaker gameplay than the others but in terms of world building was a real achievement. I haven't played the game in at least six or seven years yet I still vividly remember locations such as Vivec, rising from the swamps, or the village of Balmora. I remember exploring the unique steamwork ruins and wandering through the desert and finding those strange towns that looked like bugs hives.

When I look back at Oblivion for example however I remember... ummm... the city with the tower?

Skyrim - The game I've the longest in series so I guess its my favourite. Morrowind would have been my favourite as I think ith has the best stories and some interesting locations, however the combat was awful and that did detract from the fun of. Also theshear number of stats and skills was a little oconfusing; it took me six attempts to get a character i could actually use. Though I do guess that playing fallout3 and obilvion before Morrowind didn't help.

I'm sorry but I can't stand Morrowind, it reminds me of Star Wars and Star Trek, something old that people refuse to stop talking about.

Back to the OP, I like Skyrim, I really do. However, I miss the magic system that they had in Oblivion and the organization menu for items. I don't really like how the item menu organizes things in skyrim. That said, I love that I can craft armor and weapons in Skyrim.

Morrowind is the only correct answer. Morrowind had a fantastic world and a quest structure that actually gave you a feeling of accomplishment and great unique loot that couldn't be surpassed by cheesing crafting skills. Morrowind hands down.

Morrowind- I was actually able to care about that questline, there were always reminders that shit was going down, and ended when the main storyline finished. Sure the combat was dull if you were a melee character, but mages could just dominate.

Also, there were SO many ways to totally break the game- particularly in the original patch. Soultrap glitch, potion stacking, jumping through the wall early game so you can't be arrested, thus allowing yourself to steal as much stuff as you can carry and sell it. Selling gold to the Scamp merchant multiple times, then killing him. Hell, if you blew a breeze in that game's direction you could completely break your character.

I enjoyed Morrowind the most of all the games when it was new. However looking at all of the games now, Skyrim is a much better game overall, even if there are a few things that I disliked about it. That being said, it has the best leveling system of all the Elder Scrolls games, actually the only good leveling system haha (although I have not played Arena). As good as Morrowind was, being level 1 sucked big time, you can't hit a stationary object to save your life, and you move like your running under water its that slow.

Morrowind casts a large shadow. Even Skyrim isn't as open as Morrowind felt. Mostly because questlines are getting shorter and shorter, and that's wrong. At least they -feel- short, which is just as wrong for a sandbox. When the quests run out, we still need things to do.

But Skyrim was, indeed, better than Oblivion so they're stepping in the right direction.

The Elder Scrolls Arena. Hell yeah! Old school classic, with the freedom to explore Tamriel, rather than just one land. Fun, entertaining, but hard as hell!

I'm going to say Oblivion, because I'm one of those masochists that made a point to close every single Oblivion gate in the quest for those delicious enchantment gems.

Pretty much this. Morrowind had an awesome story and was just great from a narrative perspective. I got immersed in the history of Morrowind and the Neravarine.

Skyrim is absolutely beautiful, and has better magic and combat, it's a lot of fun but doesn't feel as deep in the narrative.

Morrowind re-done in Skyrim's engine? Oh yeah that would be awesome as hell... after a no-cliffracer patch/mod. Hell they might not be so annoying in Skyrim's engine.
