I know I've seen the occasional favorite music/movie/video game thread. And I've even been privy to the rarer best book/graphic novel/(other thing that I can not think of). But sometimes, I just have a mood that does not discriminate one form of art/entertainment from another. So that is why I leave it to you dear escapists, to give one and only one recommendation from each form of art/entertainment you can think of.

A few ground rules/clarifications:
1) Yes, I really like to use /
2) Please put the emphasis on entertainment in art/entertainment. Ask yourself, can my recommendation be enjoyed to its fullest from a chair in someone else's home?
3) Try to diversify the list. Bioshock is awesome game, but honestly its been recommended highly enough already. Go off the beaten path a little, give someone a chance to see something they may not have otherwise
4) Don't be intimated by rule 3, if you really, really recommend Bioshock, go ahead and recommend Bioshock.
5) I know how hard it is for some to only choose one so I say you must distinguish 1 above all others, but you can have honorable mentions.

And last but not least my list:

Music: Together: by The New Pornographers

Movie: Donnie Darko

Video Game: Bioshock :)

Book: The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King

Graphic Novel: V. for Vendetta

Honorable mentions:
Dear Esther (a mod for HL2)

Music: Has Been by William Shatner (A seriously amazing album, not at all like Rocket Man)

Short Films: The Videos of Douglass Burgdorff (They are disturbing, but very well shot) http://vimeo.com/user375437/videos/sort:date

Music: Ongaku by Uzuhi (A really cool Japanese Punk Band from NYC. If you watch their video on youtube for the song Uzuhi just wait until the chorus)

Books: Anything by Raymond Chandler (He does the hard boiled detective genre better than anyone)

Finally, read some Dr. Seuss, it will make your day.

Book: The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King

Graphic Novel: V. for Vendetta

Honorable mentions:
Dear Esther (a mod for HL2)
Music: "every man dies" by Jason Aldean

Movie: Accepted. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen, while also having serious things to say about contempory education

Video games: Dragon age: origins. Just like it, fun gameplay, interesting stories, and divers characters with interesting, if not terribly unpredictable backstories.

Book: "Faith of the Fallen" By Terry Goodkind. Amazing book, just amazing. 6th in the sword of truth series, which is also amazing, and begins with "Wizard's First Rule"

Anime: Buso Renkin

TV Show: Stargate: SG1

Honorable mentions
Anime: Full Metal Alchemis
Books: "Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind, "Wheel of time" series by Robert Jordan, "Night Angel" Trilogy by Brent Weeks, "The Fifth Ring" trilogy by Mitchel Graham, "Atikus Kodiak" series by Greg Rucka, "Alpha and Omega" Series by Patricia Briggs, The "Vlad Taltos" series by Steven Brust, and "Inheritance" cycle, by Christopher Paolini
Movies: Tommy Boy, Scott Pilgram vs. the world, Shooter, V for Vendetta, Underworld, and Serenity
TV Shows: Firefly(woulda been number one but it's too short), Lie to Me,
Dishonorable Mentions:
Books: last several books in the Drizzt Do'Urden series, let down the potential that was shown in the first two trilogies.
Movies: Anything Sci-Fi original, Eregon. It was a relatively poor movie, but combined with the hype and the potential in the book, it was a total failure.
Video Games: Reach(short campaign, and i was unerwhelmed and disappointed with the multiplayer, and campaign replay value)
TV Shows: Legend of The Seeker, god I hate that show. The values presented by the symbolism of that show are exactly, 100% different from the values shown in the book. I don't know where the plot went, i couldn't stand it long enough to find out, and I usually like book movies.

Music: Most songs by Blink 182 and Sum 41

Movie: Probably The Hangover or V for Vendetta depending on what you want.

Video Game: Command and Conquer Red alert 2 Yuri's revenge, the funnest game I have ever played and Metal Gear Solid 4, there is just so many ways to do things in it.

Book: The original Dune, Seriously, I could not put it down at all, I read the last 150 pages in one sitting because I wanted to know how it ended.

Anime: Dragon Ball Z, if you're looking for some good action and terrific fights, you can't go past it, this isn't nostalgia talking as I have just started re-watching it and it's better then I remember, but that's because I can skip the filler.
