Been feeling like venturing into Retro gaming, specifically the ones I've never experienced as a kid.

To this day never played games on the SEGA Dreamcast, but now I have a means to play them via emulation. Not gonna mention what exactly it is though.

So to anyone that grew up playing games on the SEGA Dreamcast, which do you guy recommend? I already know the obvious Shenmue, Soul Calibur 1, and Sonic Adventures.

You didn't mention Sonic Battle 2. (there was a Gamecube version as well). One of my all time favorites on that system.

You may want to consider finding a bundle rather than emulate. It had a couple of fun light gun games like House of the Dead 2. Worst voice acting ever.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Sword of the Berserk.
Furfighters (but its also on ps2, both versions are great)
Skies of Arcadia (but the better version is on the game cube)

I like Illbleed, Blue Stinger and Carrier, but of those the only one I would say is good is Carrier.

EDIT: Oh, also Powerstone 1 and 2.

Seaman, definitely. What other game can you have philosophical discussions about life with your pet fish?

Better yet

Confining this to exclusives, or at least, games that were exclusive to the console at the time:

-Crazy Taxi
-House of the Dead 2
-Sonic Adventure
-Sonic Adventure 2
-Soul Calibur
-Toy Commander

That's a, um, interesting choice...

Yeah, I played Blue Stinger. For a survival horror game, it's not particuarly scary, nor is it particuarly focused on survival (since you can easily kill monsters for coins, repeat the process, an buy gear).

Its very weird and one of those games that is just super awkward which can be really interesting.

Interesting in what way?

I agree, the gameplay's a bit awkward, but not sure how it's "interesting."

In terms of story, my copy couldn't progress past the point where you get the ID card from Rats (I think I know why, long story), but of what I saw of the story and have seen...eh? Story hinted at some potentially interesting things, but never really grabbed me too much.

Well, its a game where they made almost all the wrong decisions. The voice acting is alien, the gameplay is weird, the constant xmas music is extra weird. I would under no circumstances call it a good game. Its just an interesting game that I have no desire to ever play again.

The prospect of having to listen to that Christmas music looping for HOURS is positively horrifying!

Playing devi's advocate, I could see that the Christmas music is maybe intentionally disonant? As in, the game takes place on Christmas Eve, so here's all this happy Christmas music while you're fighting monsters in the presence of corpses.

That said, doesn't change how the music is annoying, that you spend a long, LONG time listening to it, and, well, again, for a survival horror game, of what I played, there wasn't much horror. Though fun fact, the first monster attack did leave me scared (and my parents considered returning the game), but hey, think I was about 10 at the time.

Honestly the game isn't really supposed to be scary, it's supposed to be corny. It's full of jokes and silly stuff like dressing Dogs up in a Santa suit for some reason I don't remember, and equipping him with various shirts that let him do Sumo and dropkicks. It's like Illbleed in that it has that campy charm and is almost a parody. Now I'm not saying the game is fun to play, since I've only watched it streamed, but in that capacity the game is a lot of fun.

I never had my own but a close friend of mine did. As far as 4-player hotseating is concerned my childhood was basically Powerstone 2 and Rush 2049.
