Part way into the year, I always like to look back on how the year has been serving us, and what games I have enjoyed so far. To look towards the end of the year always seems to far away to give the best reflection.

Please feel free to list what 2016 you have bought and enjoyed most this year, and even maybe comment on your feeling of 2016 in gaming overall so far. I personally like to list my top 10, its interesting in how it changes over the course of the year.

I have been thinking about mine. I was going to include the likes of Resident Evil Zero HD, Day of the Tentacle and Twilight Princess, but it is one of those cases where I just don't count them as 2016 releases, even if they are touched up with additions.

10.The Division
9. Firewatch
8. Final Fantasy Explorers
7. The Witness
6. Quantum Break
5. Ratchet & Clank
4. Star Fox Zero
3. Dark Souls III
2. Star Ocean 5
1. Bravely Second: End Layer

There is still a few I need to start like Project Diva X, Senran Kagura: Estival Versus and Nights of Azure; I'm sure they would make the list, but I need to try them first.

Havent played Star Fox Zero yet, and the new Zelda and Pok?mon games aren't out...most of the new games Ive played this year were bad, or don't suit my tastes...

Uh...Samurai Warriors 4 Empires is pretty good. I guess that's my number 1 so far.

Haven't played a ton of new stuff this year. Dark Souls 3, Hyper Light Drifter and Fire Emblem Fates were great. Going to pick up Bravely Second eventually. Best game I have played this year is probably Undertale, though that came out in 2015.

I've only played "Dark Souls III" out of 2016 games this year. I've enjoyed it plenty enough, but I feel like it's a big step down from "Bloodborne". I still enjoy it more than the other games in its series though, I guess. I'm definitely not as down on it as hardcore Souls fan seem to be (on The Escapist), but I can (sort of) see where they're coming from.

To me that would be Hyper Light Drifter. I haven't played alot of new 2016 games at the moment. I think my next one would be Fire Emblem: Fates.

I agree that Bloodborne was an overall superior game, but Dark Souls 3 has much better multiplayer. I'd consider myself a fairly hardcore fan, but I am nowhere near as miffed about it as a lot of others on this site. I recognize that it has a lot of issues, but it's still super fun, which is the most important thing to me.

Id love a Dark Souls styled game with an emphasis on multiplayer, particularly co-op.

Well there's this game coming out soon: http://store.steampowered.com/app/384490/

It's supposed to be Dark Souls-y 4-player co-op dungeon crawler. Kinda makes me think of a cross between Diablo and Dark Souls. I like the art direction too.

The only thing missing is good character creation/customization, otherwise this hits a lot of favorite points for me, thanks.

No character creation, but there is customization (Fashion Souls). You unlock different costumes and pallets and can change your gender. Some of the outfits look pretty cool.

I've enjoyed the multiplayer thus far. Unfortunately for the longest time multiplayer was limited on Xbox One on account of a glitch making the game unable to read calibrations unless you set a game to install before loading "Dark Souls III". That glitch has been fixed for a little while now but I've not had much experience.

Similarly, jolly co-operation is still as jolly as it usually is.

Just noticed/remembered that "Star Fox Zero" was put in the OP's list. How have you found it? I've been meaning of having a look at these games but as far as Nintendo consoles are concerned the Wii U is pretty much all I have.

The fallout 4 survival beta (now live) came out this year and ever since, it's pretty much all I play. It's absolutely amazing.

So far the only thing that nearly ruined the new challenging balance is fuxing about with tinker toms ballistic weave. Stay away kids and enjoy dat "survival" lol

1. Dark Souls 3
2. Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator...demo.
3. Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code (Steam)
4. ...Street Fighter V (?)

I really haven't played much of anything from this year. I've stopped really caring about a lot of more high-profile releases.

1. Stardew Valley
2. Overwatch (Beta, still forming my opinion)

I haven't played a ton of new games this year. Looking forward to trying Stellaris and Warhammer.

Stardew Valley is a phenomenal achievement and should be in line for some kind of awards recognition. Probably too niche to capture a lot of GOTY accolades, but it's a special little game.

Does this have to be about games? Because all I've really played this year are Xenoblade Chronicles (good game, gets into my top 10 RPGs) and Super Metroid (good game, but I like Zero Mission and Fusion more).

If "best of 2016" can apply to other media, then I can contribute more.

Pony Island is the shit! My "Best of 2016 So Far" by far!!

Other than that, both CALENDULA and Star Fox Zero are taking the "Honorable Mention So Far" spot... because I only bought 3 2016 games thus far...

XCOM 2. It's the only thing new I've played this year.

I've played a lot of geometry wars 3, FTL and Rayman legends as well, but all that didn't come out this year.
