So i was in an generic game-selling retail store the other day and managed to get both age of conan and fallout 3 for 99p each (both of which work fine, the retail key for conan even gives me 30 days free). This isn't too uncommon a deal to find, many good bargains can be found for games that a few years old.
however...
I also managed to find a very good copy of Dante's Inferno for the 360, priced at only £4.99, which i snapped up as fast as i could. this was made better by the fact that THE VERY SAME STORE had the same game on a shelf at the back of the shop priced at £42.99
As a studant, i couldnt help but feel a little victorious over the game industry as a whole.
So Escapists; Ever ripped off a Game store? or, for the sake of discussion, what is your worst experiance of being Ripped off.

Another thread reminded me of this: Legend of the Dragoon. Got it from a local movie rental place that had a few PS1 games that it used rent out but were now selling. Got all 4 disks for 2 bucks. 50 cents a disk.

I managed to get Dragon Age: Origins Collectros Edition for about a dollar (9 Swedish kronor). Turns out if you traded in two games, which I intended on doing anyway, they would slash the price down to a minimum. I also had some credits on my loyalty card, and when everything was said and done I had reduced the price to roughly 1% of the original cost.

I once also got two games (Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda) for free because I smiled at the girl behind the counter when I bought a 60 day time card for WoW. Best deal I have ever made. =)

I, uh, got Braid for 3 dollars on Steam...And TF2 for 2.50...and Portal for free xD

Obviously, I'm kidding, but the only game retailer nearby is Gamestop, and I don't particularly like the fellows who work there.

Brand new copies of MGS4, InFamous, and Fallout 3...Five bucks each during the Black Friday weekend sale. And no, the crowds were long gone by the time I got to them so I had no frustrating lines or annoying assholes to wade through to make up for the reduced prices.

Heroes of Might and Magic 5 plus all expansions for 4 Euro. Just last week.

Other than that. I dunno. I can't remember the last time I paid more than 25-30 quid for a game in gamestop. Backlog of games . . . so . . . big . . .

I payed $100 for Bulletstorm the other day and while I think the game itself is good, only getting 6 hours of play out of it kinda left me feeling ripped off. Though I will be trading it in on Thursday for Pokemon Black so not all is lost!

I found Deus Ex about 2 weeks ago for £0.99. Which is, what, $1.50 at most? Damn good deal, it was.

The only one I got is far too explicit for the likes of the average Escapist's mentality.

But It was a pretty good deal..

10p for Age of Empires 3 and all expansions.
99p for STALKER: Shadows over Chernobyl.
And I got a near-prestine copy of Final Fantasy VII for free because I pointed out that the shop hadn't gotten rid of it after about three years of me going there :)
