It brings up all sorts of fascinating questions about biology and destiny.

Watch it. What do you think of "Bobby". Does he reinforce or undermine the beliefs of those who think biology is destiny?

Would you kill an innocent pre- Holocaust Hitler to avoid genocide?

I can't believe you can just watch this for free but there it is and it is fascinating.

Nobody believes biology is destiny. Cloning Hitler won't recreate the Fuhrer. I'm pretty sure if you cloned Hitler now, he'd be a disgruntled bank clerk but otherwise unscarred by the Great War nor the appalling economic conditions Germany faced in the after-war period and the fake peace treaty other European states wanted to foist on demoralised, broken former empires... with ethnic and religiously divided groups in thd face of the hastily redrawn borders of the former central powers.

If I wanted to chalk up why Hitler was Hitler, we can tslk anout historic anti-semitism in Europe, psychological damages, and the shame of a lost war and humiliating treatise that, unlike most wars, didn't even see the Central Powers occupied but rather disintegrate from within. Certainly there were engagements that threatened to break the back of the Central Powers, such as the aftermath of the Battle of Hamel, the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux and the Battle of Amiens that penetrated deep... but it was a war lost on the back of economic, not military, failures.

People oversell what biology is.

Biology doesn't determine your handedness, but being lefthanded is a minor benefit in swordplay, statistically more likely to survive single melee combat... doesn't mean a whole bunch of lefthanders are going to go on Crusade to the Holy Land wielding maces and claymores.

"Bobby" is portrayed as a bit of a dick. You could see how the right environment would put him over a tipping point. But that is the point. It takes both biology and environment to make a person (the bad guys did try to give him enough of an enviromennt with a brutal dad and doting mom. Not even close to the conditions you describe: lost war, crashing economy.
