I'm thinking about making a video about the choices that are available in video games. What I mean by this is twofold. 1. the choice on your approach over an obstacle, and 2. the ability to change the path your character takes throughout the game.
What I mean by 1 is along the lines of MGS3. You can sneak past guards, or you can kill them, throw snakes at them, use CQC, etc. There are enough options that it's easy to not take advantage of them all to get to the next part of the game.
What I mean by 2 is more along the lines of Mass Effect or Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. Both of them give you choices that affect how the characters feel about you altering the overall tone of the game.
What do you think about choices in the game? What are good examples of choices? Are there any good stories about trying to do something differently in a game?
