Hello and welcome to my 3rd Hypothetical scenario thread, come on in, have a look around.

You are sitting at your desk/coffee table drinking tea/coffee/beer/wine or whatever it is you drink when lounging around. It's quite late at night and you think you should head to bed soon. Half way through your before bed rituals a frantic knowing of the door and ringing of the bell permeates through the house. You stop what you are doing and rush to inspect the disturbance. Outside the door you see a young woman of around 19 and while she looks physically unharmed she also appears very frightened. You're not sure whether she needs your help or wants to repurpose you as a tea cozy. She begins to beg to be let in and thumps at the door harder and harder. You decide that you'll let her in and try and calm her down. Once you open the door she scrambles in, down the hall and into your living room where she takes up a spot quivering in the corner. Utterly bewildered be the situation you clumsily lock the door and rush to the girl's side. After you try and comfort her, to no avail, you decide to fetch her a drink of water. Once you bring the water to her there is another knock at the door. 3 loud, booming knocks. The knocks seem to make the girl even more frightened. As you head to the door she grabs your leg and shakes her head frantically. You shake her off and make your way to the door. Outside is a tall man who looks slightly under 30. You open the door. He's wearing an Armani suit but with out of place boots on. He presents you papers, without saying anything, that tell you he is a doctor. After staring him down for a good few seconds you ask him what it is he wants. He explains the girl in your house is under his care and that he wants her back. He then shoulders into your hall and makes his way slowly forward toward where the girl is quietly crying. You notice you have a small hammer by your door...

What do you do? Do you stop him? Do you let him take the girl? How do you react?

Do I stop him? Do I stop him? OF COURSE, I motherfucking stop him! Some asshole just pushed himself into my house without my say-so. He did not try to reason with me, nor does he appear to have orderlies for back-up, which would be normal in such a situation. It's not a doctor!

[HEADING=1]IT'S HAMMER TIME!![/HEADING]

The back of this man's head is full of hammer so fast that he's done like a sack of potatoes, and I stomp hard into his back for good measure. Since I am both large and slightly older than this guy (31), he is either dead or unconscious. Door gets locked, man gets searched, and then I find out from the poor girl just what's going on.

Tell him the cops can confirm whether or not she belongs with him, slam the door in his face, call the police, and ready my gun just in case.

I imagine some really heavy song playing

I take the hammer, kick him in the back of the leg and hit him once in the head with the hammer

Then I take the girl and drive off into the night

If only... If only...

Hell to the no. He does not get the girl.

I wield the hammer just in case and get in front of the guy to intercept and shove him out. If he tries to push past me, down comes the hammer. Whereas I'll then drag his ass outside, secure the door closed and then gets to calling the cops.

At this point, he is untrustworthy. We can leave it to said cops and maybe the girl's family to verify all this stuff. And probably nothing would change even then, depending on what she chooses to do. Because if a female is scared and weeping, her desires are priority.

Of course, a nice bit of that scenario would be avoided because I'd be aiming for the phone once the girl gets in my house. And I damn sure would not go near the door after she snags my leg and begs me not to answer it.

I'd let the police decide if those papers are legit, but he sure as hell isn't getting the girl right away, because reasons..

So he stays silent and shoves me out of the way.

I'd brain the bastard with a hammer.

Also, what kind honest doctor takes care of their patient while wearing an armani suit?

"There's a hammer by the window. There's a knife on the floor"
First thing that came to mind.

1) Doctors have no authority. He's trespassing. He can get the fuck out.
2) Arm around neck, thrust hips into his back and lean back, take him off his feet.
3) He now has no leverage, and I drag him out the door and lock it.

I've practised doing that before, and I've no doubt I could do it. It's unlikely he's a lot bigger than me, and I can do it to people much heavier than myself, so I figure it's no worry.

Unless the girl's ALMA, I'm right.

I notice the quest name is pretty much identical to two missions in EVE online, so I board my spaceship into spreadsheet space.

have you seen vhs recently by any chance?
Um... I've seen Sinister? I think that's what they are calling VHS over here... Anyway that's not what spurred this on, I just really like doing these kinds of threads.

Anyhow, I'm surprised it's all either kill him or police, has no one considered this girl is a mental patient and a huge danger to you and herself? Anyway, don't let me taint your answers...

pretty much standard response. i'll hold everyone in stasis until the situation has been adequately analysed before taking any appropriate actions.

I think we're all assuming the girl is an innocent because of her frightened behavior and the fact that she is a young girl in danger, as well as the forceful demeanor of the "doctor". For all I know, she is some criminally insane patient playing on my sympathies. Or even worse, it might be a "patient zero" situation.

Even so, I'm halting everything until I get some goddamn answers. This random guy with some papers forces his way into my home planning to take someone away with not even a warrant or anyone else to confirm his authority over the situation. Granted, the girl also forced her way into my house, but she wasn't claiming any authority over my rights to what goes on in my home.

So yes, I assert myself and tell the bastard to cease and desist and demand an explanation. If he keeps moving silently like a fucking terminator, then sap the bastard in the back of the head, while still keeping an eye on the girl and demanding answers from her. If I don't get any, then I call the police and wait until I can assess the identities of these random people in my house at 2AM.

I let him take her, and then catch him off guard with a hatchet in the skull half a mile down the road. I'm not going to risk my life for someone I don't know if it's in a situation I can't control somewhat.

Everyone seems very gung ho about murdering the man. What if he was really her doctor and he was returning her to a loving home and giving her her meds? That's be hard to explain to the authorities. "I thought he was one of the blue hand guys from Firefly, officer. He looked funn, officer. The hatchet flew from the trees, officer, I think it was Conner from Ass Creed, officer..."

That'll go down well...

If he was her doctor, he'd be accompanied by police officers and other mental health staff, and he would be able to provide documents stating that she was being sectioned. As the scenario stands, that doesn't appear to be the case - obviously if she was ill and the correct paperwork had been filled out, then I'd hand her over as sensitively as possible.
