So extra credits latest video is about the D3 Market place.
For your convenience [http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/the-diablo-iii-marketplace]:

I think we all have been looking forward to D3 for a long time, I know I have, but I'm a divided in my opinion of the system their planning on using in the market place.
Not the trading aspect of it, Teapot knows its needed, but their using "Real money" as currency.

What do you guys think?

As long as you can't buy the absolute best items from RMAH (Real Money Auction House) from then I'm absolutely fine with it. The fact that Blizzard is legitimizing farming and selling items is something I support, the problem is about buying power though. The idea certainly has potential, but it needs to be implemented in a good way.

I'm completely in favor of this practice since it's entirely win/win.

I can buy power if I want to save hundreds of hours of farming (I never plan to do this but it's nice that I can). This works in Diablo 3 because the game is non-competitive. I have no reason to care if some random person in my team has far superior gear to me despite having only invested 8 hours in the game compared to my 300.

I can potentially make a little money for playing a video game casually. I'd be surprised if I earn $20 back over the course of the games lifespan from my non-farming playstyle...but the fact that I can potentially make money off my hobby is fantastic.

The auction houses are entirely optional. Players can completely ignore them and play this game like it were Diablo 2 if they want. It is simply a game feature when it's all said and done....nothing that is required to beat the game.

There is a ton of hate over the implementation of a real money auction house...and I genuinely don't understand why any aspect of it is bad for the player.

It's progressive. Every online game has gold/item sellers and it causes nothing but problems. Blizzard is being smart and taking control of it. It will happen anyway, at least this will keep it, honest/in check.

I think they raise a good point that all the farming for rare loot to sell could end up being work/ job. However I highly doubt the time spend to finding and gathering the rare loots will be worth it to see it as a job. I suppose it is still possible but you pretty much end being a gold farmer 27/7 and your eyes are mess up.

I really don't care about it. Blizz is not even going to try and balance Diablo PvP anyway (and I agree with that), so as long as (for example) a Barbarian who put an Obsidian rune in Whirlwind will wtfpwn any other class spending actual money on items will be completely pointless.

And since I highly doubt there'll be a competitive PvE scene for world firsts, people buying power in PvE doesn't affect me in any way, shape or form.

Completely kills the draw of the game for me. The fact that at any level I either have to buy a ton of stuff with real money or might as well not be there means that multiplayer with randoms is right out. I don't know enough people who'll be getting it to just play locked games and I wasn't interested in single player before they added all the negatives of multiplayer to the mix.

For a lot of players, the auction house means that a 7-year old with his dad's credit card can have the best gear,
Not to mention a 31 year old with his own credit card.

Yes folks, I plan on buying the best shit I can afford and put in minimal effort on my part.

Why?

Because I can.

I'm getting the game for free thanks to my wife and her love of WoW. I wasn't going to buy it so while I have it I may as well "use the system" to my advantage.

Fucking disgusting, "Yeah players! We're doing this for you! That's why instead of playing the fucking game, you just need to buy with real money to stay at the top!"
Which top? The top of the PvP, which will not be balanced whatsoever? Or the PvE, which has no top?

There are no words that can properly describe the immensity of the shit I do not give.

I will play the game, and not care about it because I mostly play Blizzard games for the story and the fact that that is where most of my friends hang about. Sure if I find some ultra-rare super item I won't use or give to a buddy who will, I'll use the system...that's about it. This is one of the few micro-transaction structures I approve of because it lets lazy people be lazy, and stubborn/poor people like myself actually play the game as I was meant to instead of steamrolling everything due to gear much past what I should have.

Also, from beta footage, I'll also likely be too busy clapping and squealing with joy as I -punch the blood out of my enemies-...don't look at me like that. >.>

I just don't get it. It is supposed to be a game. I play games to have fun and enjoy them, to find stuff/places on my own and to enjoy the story. If I want a "he who has the most toys wins" dynamic, I've got real life for that.

For those Beavis and Butt-head folks, this was my 69th post.

It does not bother me as much as other people I know thinks it should. To me, paying 10.00 dollars for a weapon you need to complete that unique set is no different than using that same 10.00 dollars for a code that gives you double experience for 48 hours. To me, they are both cheating because you are giving yourself a shortcut to get around the normal amount of grid you would do.

Yes, I know that the latter is somehow different because you still need to do the actual killing to get the levels, but that does not excuse you from using a shortcut to get further into the game than you would in the same amount of time.

Reaching endgame, top of the PvP, basically being good at a game because you bought stuff with real money.
How can there be a top of the PvP if it is intentionally unbalanced? If a certain class with a certain spec can just demolish anything, there will never be anything resembling a competitive scene.
