Seeing latest showcase of Snowdrop engine, The Division will clearly be one of the best looking games - great, detailed level design, incredible graphics, environment interaction, particle, surface system, dynamic textures, etc.

The only problem I see - the setting. New York? Jesus.

Ubi should've chosen something more interesting. For instance, The Zone from STALKER series. I'd love to see that franchise on Snowdrop engine with a reponsive, large env.

The Division would be great as a SP RPG with a team management system, too (see Freedom Fighters).

Sure, TD has an interesting, captivating background, but, as outlined, New York is shallow, boring, no matter how much effort you put into its enhanced postapocalyptic design.

Thoughts, suggestions?

You said New York is shallow and boring but I'm curious as to why you say that. Because from what I've seen they aren't just setting it on Manhattan but also in the boroughs. So there should be plenty of stuff to explore. Certainly places to explore even for people who have explored new york in a lot of virtual settings.

As for the graphics trailer they released I don't expect the final product to look like that, certainly not on consoles at least. Some of the higher end PCs should look like that but I don't expect mine too. Still it is pretty.

New York isnt boring, its visited a bit too much in games and movies but it certainly isnt boring.

And from what we saw it doesnt seem that its multiplayer only, it looks like the typical blend of SP/MP that some games are doing now where its still perfectly playable in SP (Dark Souls, Need For Speed Rivals, The Crew I guess)
