i apologize in advance for the lengh, grammar, and spelling of my post

i have just spent the bulk of my morning watching most of the videos entered in the annual contest. my first impression is that the escapist could have narrowed it down to a handful of finalists or at least made it easier to watch them all at once. again, it took me the bulk of my morning and i simply didin't have the patience to finish. loading each individual vid and having to rewatch the same game trailers over and over practically doubled the time it should have taken. honestly though, the trailer for "the saboteur" was the best part of a large percentage of these vids.

I am writing this post as a guide for those of you who have the notion to watch all the videos and pick your favorite. seeing as this is the goal of a film festival devoted to "viewers choice" i again am suprised that the escapist has made it such a chore. while none of the vids are on par with Doomsday Arcade (the only thing in this post worthy of capitalization), here are my favorites:

dorian's quest- good set-up for an epic story, good production, some humor, and a hot chick to boot

the claw and fang- very impressive from what is presented but it plays like a trailer and you can't really gather much about the story

pocket monsters- epic set-up, decent production and cast, but the story falls flat with me because i'm not much of a pokemon fan

cold turkey- funny premise, good set-up, decent production, and a creator that cares about feedback

lex talonis- i over-looked this at first but as i watched more vids i think this may be the darkhorse of the bunch, good production and effects, and an epic set-up

princess and the pod- interesting look, good set-up, but some of the jokes fell flat

buffering- this one made me laugh out loud and is charming but doesn't really tie into what the escapist does as a site content wise

virtual reality- lacks good production, but it made me laugh, i really like the idea, and you can tell the guys are having fun which is catchy

excalibur reviews- has a few different vids, i like the idea, these made me laugh and i would vote for these but i can already see a bunch of them on youtube

cat-like reflexes- funny, but i'm not sure where the creator can go with this

the other stryker island- made me laugh out loud but the animation lacks polish

reading corner- i like the comic/graphic novel approach, but the web-cam turned me off

zerant- the best rant vid of the bunch but needs polish, already earned a comment arguing his point which i find telling of it's potential

but i did it in a videogame- great idea, mediocre execution

the current favorite (not mine) is an animated series called inter-nettiqite i believe, it already has a number of favorable comments and is interesting but i'm afraid that the number of users already familiar to the creator and his characters might skew the voting. this raises an interesting point, how does this not become a popularity contest where the winner is the person who can get the most friends/family to vote. the escapist has made it bothersome to watch enough vids to form an educated opinion and alot of them are forgettable, doesn't belong on this site, or are just plain crappy.

i can't really think of a closing, i just hope my morning hasn't been wasted

I'm intrigued by the fact that Watch! - Episode 0 wasn't brought up. I wish to read your critique.
