Third time's the charm, I guess.

I wonder what is creating all of these creative differences. Perhaps Ezra Miller is being an artsy little dick. Or maybe the directors they keep getting are too out there.

Doesn't it outright state in the article that it was issues with Warner Brothers itself?

Well, anyway, don't know how common this is for movies pre-production, so regardless, time to head off before the usual DCEU tirades begin.

Famuyiwa hoped to make a movie with a much edgier take on the Scarlet Speedster, but was met with considerable resistance from the studio.
On one had, I would agree with WB that "edgier" is the last thing they need after MoS and BvS being "too edgy", and mistaking "edgier" with juvenile; but executive meddling has always been a source for franchise killing in Warner.

It killed Batman with Batman and Robin, allegedly killed Green Lantern, and is doing a superb job so far getting rid of any coherent script in the DCCU.

Mrhm. A bad sign generally, but here I think it indicates pressure from WB higher-ups to turn the franchise away from "edgy." The toxic response to BvS really caught the studio's executives off-guard, and now they're overcompensating.

I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, the executives are trying to give the fans - or at least, the Internet hive mind - what they want and what they asked for. On the other hand, the edge-factor of the DC films has been what made them distinct and different from the Marvel films. I don't want DC films to be more like Marvel; I just want them to be better than they currently are.

Then again, I think BvS is a secret masterpiece that got hacked to pieces in the editing room, so my opinion is probably worth jack shit.

The guy's phrasing in his quote seemed vague, so I kind of just connected that to the person he was having creative differences with being unknown. Anyway, yeah, I can believe these unknown sources. At this point, I don't think there's a single thing WB doesn't regret about the DCEU. Although, this time I agree with them, the Flash is just not the kind of character you turn into an edglord.

I despise BvS with all my heart, but yeah, I do think there was a good movie somewhere in it. Same with Suicide Squad.

Please the only way DC movies can get edgy is if they play a music track from Machine Head's the Blackening

This is kinda' what happens when you rush into the Comic movie scene trying to do in 3 and 3 movies what Marvel spent 8 years and 5 movies trying to do, ie The Avengers.

Wake me when the DCEU stops screwing up. I'm barely paying attention anymore. If it follows the exact same path as the rest of the awful failures that every DCEU movie has been so far then Flash will turn out something like this...

Reports or rumors of problems between creators and the studio. (check)
Talk of extensive reshoots or heavy editing.
Big changes after focus group reaction.
Teaser trailer that looks pretty good and restores some hope.
Negative press from actor or crew during promotional push.
Trailer that looks worse and confirms many fears about the movie.
Another trailer that confirms that the movie is going down the wrong path.
Movie does good first weekend box office but gets crushed by reviews and word of mouth.
Movie sets or nears 2nd week dropoff record.
Fanboys try to defend, but its obviously just another crappy DCEU movie.
Creator promises "special edition" with more content that "fixes everything."
Nobody cares because its just another terrible DCEU movie.

There, just check off each one until you find the special edition dvd on a 5 dollar bargain rack at Wal-Mart. Then walk past that rack and buy anything else, as anything else would be a better use for your money.

Having sat through like almost two seasons of Mopey Flash on TV, I'm gonna steer clear of DCs edgy Flash Begins they're inevitably going to do.
As much as I enjoy CW Flash, I'm starting to get Arrow vibes from the show.

Well that doesn't bode well. Then again, Ant-man had similar issues and turned out pretty damn good. Maybe they can manage to fix this. I don't have much hope for it, though. I hated MoS and BvS.

I'm not sure I even much care any more. DC has made three films so far aimed at kicking off a shared movie universe for its characters, and all three have been utter garbage. I don't have any interest left in their offerings and will be skipping Wonder Woman and the rest, certainly at the box office. Maybe when it's on a streaming thing somewhere in the future but I'm not paying actual money to see any more of their shit.
