No argument gaming has advanced over the years, from the Nintendo 64 to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox one. I mean the Nintendo 64 only played games. Now we have gaming consoles that you can watch movies on, you can get on the internet with them, you can even download games. And now they?re talking about virtual reality.

Games themselves have even improved over the years, look at the elder scrolls series for example look at the arena and then look at skyrim. There is a big difference in gameplay, graphics and voice acting. And years from now think what the graphics, gameplay and voice acting will be like on games.

And that brings us to the question what do you think about the future of gaming. Leave a comment telling me what you think.

I think it will include lots of brown and gray games that feature shooting things with a variety of guns such as pistols, SMGs, and semi-automatic rifles.

I haven't actually seen one of those since Far Cry 2 or Fallout 3, and I loved both those games.
OT: I see Fallout 4.
Actually OT: Hopefully, as different genres become more popular again both in gaming and generally, we'll get a better mix of games. There's so much generic fantasy nowadays, maybe we can get some more Western and hell, we need the gaming equivalent to buddy-cop films! That'd be awesome! :D

SO BROWN AND GREY.

MY GOD, LOOK AT ALL THE BROWN!!!!

UGH, IT'S LIKE THEY DON'T USE ANY COLORS AT ALL, GUYS!!!!

NO COLOR HERE!

NOPE, NONE HERE EITHER GUYS!

MY GOD, WHEN ARE DEVELOPERS GOING TO START USING COLORS!?!?!?!

All I see is BROWN AND GREY, GUYS!!

God. NO. COLORS. AT. ALL!!!!

Man, it's like they use a MONOCHROME PALETTE!

Oh man, gold filter means it's ALL ONE COLOR!

Nope, ABSOLUTELY NO COLOR to be had here!

EDIT: To actually contribute to the discussion at hand, I'm sick of people whining about everything being "brown and grey". It's the phrase itself that bugs me, because people don't usually actually MEAN "brown and grey", they mean "it has an aesthetic that doesn't appeal to me because everything is washed out" or something like that. And people have just boiled it down to complaining that every single game is just one damn color, which is not true at all.
A few of the images are dead, so let's see what else I can come up with instead.

Nah, who am I kidding, obviously you're right, shooters never have any color at all. They're all dull, brown, gritty military games, every single last one of them.

OT: I'm hoping we'll actually finally be able to have AI that isn't dumb as rocks and animations that don't inhabit the uncanny valley now that the 'standard' video games are developed for isn't going to be a measly 512 MB of RAM anymore. It'd be nice to get more games that take the Deus Ex route of extremely open-ended and inter-connected level design, too.

Half the games you posted pics from are not games I would consider bad. In fact, Bioshock Infinite is great. But it's the exception, not the rule. The reason most people use the term "brown and gray" is because most FPS shooters are "brown and gray." Chances are they have some dipshit buzzcut on the cover walking away from a warzone glowing red and orange and that they suck. The existence of acclaimed and original games doesn't mean that there aren't a dozen ho hum garbage titles for every gem.

Brown.
Gray.
Sucktitude.

Name one "brown and gray" FPS that isn't Call of Duty, Battlefield, Spec Ops, or the now-dead Medal of Honor. For the purposes of this experiment, we're also excluding Red Orchestra and ArmA because they're supposed to be actual military sims, and not arcade-y shooters with pretensions of being military sims. I'd add the stipulation of the games actually being any good on a technical, functioning level too, but I feel like that's just being unfair.

I expect the whole futurama thing where we just plug ourselves into the console and then just lay unconscious while our minds traverse the land of data. That or I'm just hoping for better AI where my total war Allies won't constantly betray me or enemies that learn from your mistakes and find ways to challenge you, without doubling in number or health.

So the task is name one brown and gray FPS that isn't in the franchises that make up 80% of the genre that you already listed.
