Hello, I am not posting thread very often. This is my second topic.
Just as the topic said, which game inspire you most?
That game may not be your favorite game or not a very good design one, I mean the game that inspire you of which allow you to realize that gaming is not just only entertainment.

To me, I will pick Neverywinter Nights 2.
At first I bought the game without any information about that game because of boredom,
seriously I thought that game is an third person ARPG!
Of course the game experience turned out not very good since I have wrong expectation.
I uninstall the game before I could finish the starting chapter and put the game aside.
The game makes fighting system in such a slow pace and I can't even spam my spell as a mage!
(I didn't know what is DnD before, I thought all the mage can spam their spells!)

About a half year later I pick up my dusty NWN2 from shelf again.
What is different from the last time? I finished the game.
The story is typical one but I found myself immersed in the story-world as I progress in game,
which at a point I can't accept the departure of my NPC partner as we have been through alot in game.
At that time I realized gaming is not just entertainment, it can move your emotion through your gaming experience. This realization changed me alot in viewing game as a medium or art.

Okay, then what is the game that inspire you most?

I would have to say... Fable 2... not sure why, the whole game just had this vibe about it.

There was just a huge feeling of accomplishment when you completed the game, growing up from a street urchin all the way to this illustrious all-powerful hero-god-thing...

It just made me feel good about myself and I actually ended up writing a book that shared a lot of similarities to it. So yes, Fable 2 inspired me quite a lot despite the actual mediocre game it was at times.

Probably Cave Story, really. The story and gameplay were both amazing. It's the kind of game the SNES could have run, yet there never was one that was so fluid and responsive. It had some of the most touching emotional scenes, despite its simplistic presentation. Truly a labor of love, and the most inspiring part was the one man made it all happen.
It makes me believe, perhaps with enough work and enough love, I could do the same.

Probably Magic: The Gathering. Seriously, you have to put a lot of thought into deck building, and limited formats even more-so. I've done 4 limited tourneys now (one 6-booster sealed, three 3-booster draft) and I thoroughly love it. And I also love playing my constructed decks (Green/White Auras and Kuldotha Red)

Dynasty Warriors 4.

That was the game that got me fascinated with history and it eventually became my favourite subject, and still is.

The Kingdom Hearts series. The characters are extremely likeable and have honestly given me an emotional ride, good and bad. And the Disney nostalgia is brilliant too.

Also the Tomb Raider series. Lara's inspired me to be strong and independent, and has given me a love for all things old and tomb-y.

Do Visual Novels count, if so, Clannad.

But a game, I guess Fallout 3 or Oblivion. The Good Vs Evil (im good) really influenced me to become good in real life.
