For me it was Assassin's Creed. It was by no means a bad game, but by the trailers that were shown I was expecting something epic, which it just wasn't. Also it was horribly repetitive.

Mass Effect. I wanted an RPG, not a shooter. Now the only enjoyment i can get from it is making my character ugly as hell and calling him "Pixie Dust" Sheppard.

Spore, hands down. I was promised so much, yet given so little.
Damn you Spore, damn you to hell.

Spore. Just...urgh. Like bedding a beautiful woman, having some astounding foreplay, then finding a testicle that isn't yours.

Or hers.

Mercenaries 2, I waited for it for over a year and what do I get?
14 missions that I can complete in one day, repetitive and frankly rather lame dialogue, the inability to play local co-op, enemies that instead of using tactics just fire endless ammounts of rockets at you until you die, terrible AI and the return of that annoying Australian chick (who will not shut up)

(expletive deleted) you Pandemic! And (expletive deleted) you too EA!

Can´t think of many right now. But I remember some terrible days, a few years ago when I tried to get Star Ocean 3 after seeing the fantastic trailer in my local gameshop (which didn´t have the actual game, ironicly). Then, I finally bought it on ebay, and payed a hell of a lot more than i should and at the end, I stopped playing it after 3 or 4 hours ´cause it just bored me to death.

Definitely Haze for me. Looking at the developer's past credentials, it was all too easy for me to get rather hyped up about the game. Plus I was also wanting to succeed based on it being a PS3 exclusive as well what with me being fed up of people throwing abuse at the console day and night without even having played on one.

Then the demo came out.

The gameplay itself felt sort of decent, nothing special, but it was the story and voice acting that did it for me. The voice actor who played the dying soldier in the plane wreckage seriously needed to be taken out back and shot. After witnessing that there was no chance I was parting with the money for the full game.

Also Spore. Haven't actually played the game, but the reviews I've read suggest that it's far from what it was meant to be. Also, I certainly want to keep away from activation-limited DRM as best I can.
