Ok, this is a completely biased topic about what game (or game series) you would defend with your undying breath and can NOT rest easy unless you convinced someone else it's THAT good.

I'm not talking about your favorite game of all time (although it will be among your top 3), I'm talking about a completely "head in the dirt" point of view about a game that you simply will not hear bad mouthed in the slightest.

Even though I am 99% for the fact that people are entitled to their own opinions, I can't help thinking about 1 game that everyone needs to like, regardless of personal tastes.

And that game is Deus Ex. I am replaying it now, fully hyping myself up for Human Revolutions (especially after the terrible Deus Ex 2) and I remember all over again how I felt playing it.

Probably Persona 3/4 both are shining example of how a game can tell a story and how to deal with complex issues.

Well, I wouldn't say that I believe everyone needs to like it, but I certainly do go into ostrich mode whenever someone says something bad about it.

For me - it's Dragon Age: Origins.
SO. MUCH. LOVE. O.O

My most played game ever, by a long way (we're talking over 1,000 hours or so play), and I just love the concept of it, the graphics, the content, the world, the combat, the EVERYTHING.

Fun, challenging and shiny. :D
What more could one want? :p

I also tie Dragon Age with Devil May Cry 3.
I'm massively obsessed by it, it was the best in the series and one of the most immersive and fun games I've ever played.

Dante be awesome, too. :)

I also have similar things, but not quite as serious - in that I can accept criticism of them - going on for:

Batman, Arkham Asylum
Assassin's Creed 1
Dawn of War II and DOW II: Chaos Rising

Super Metroid. There is nothing wrong with that game. Not a single thing. I would say Metroid Prime, but I know it does have a few small flaws.

Well let's just say Half-Life, how can anyone say anything bad about that, cornerstone of FPS genre.

I would die valiantly in the post apocalyptic wasteland defending my copy of Fallout (and/or Wasteland. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasteland_%28video_game%29])

And, yes, I mean the original Fallout.

My own life. Kinda like it trying to live it like a game, and yeah kind of sucks all those NPCs at the banks and in the supermarkets, but overall pretty darn good game.

Umm, Portal... I guess. Bioshock maybe.

I generally don't try that hard to get other people to like the games I like. I'll just say, "Hey, this is pretty good stuff. Ya might want to check it out", then leave it at that. Anything more is just a wast of time and effort. All the more so if you're doing it on the internet.

The Elder Scrolls series I guess. I can somewhat understand people who don't love Daggerfall, and maybe even Morrowind, but if you get into a debate with me about Oblivion it will end with either you proclaiming it to be the second coming or me murdering you.

Games, not so much. Music, though. I have been driven perilously close to the point of physical violence when defending Iron Maiden.

Though I'm probably most fanboyish about Wario games. THEY'RE SO GOOOOOOOOOD

Fable the lost chapters.
maybe because peoles gripes about it seem petty and they have barely thought about the game as being much deeper than a specimen dish because they don't think about games.

did Yathze review it? even though i like the guy wahat everyones hates about fable all came from him (apparently Zero punctuation quotes concstitute infaliable fact)

i would never defend the other two (even though two had my favorite gaming moment)

Halo 3. EASILY the best fps on the 360. It was my first game on the 360, and i've played it more than any other game i have, reach is a good equal but in terms of sentimental value, 3 is where it's at

Star Wars Jedi academy. Best Jedi Sim ever, one of the best SW games ever. Also, Warhammer40k:Dawn of War series, top quality rts. I think we all should hold the likes of Okami,Ico,Shadow of the Colossus etc to our hearts and fight for that kind of game, because if we dont we will deserve to be force fed the tripe thats some studios fling and real experiences, real value and quality titles will be a thing of nostalgia.
