Here is what I personally have learned from gaming over the last year or so.

10) The apocalypse is indeed arriving soon.
The announcement/release of: Rage, Fallout: New Vegas, Borderlands, Brink, Metro 2033, et cetra.

9) Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is fun!
DJ Hero got good reviews (rightly I might add, but if that is what being a DJ is like, I think I'll stick with assing around my apartment)

8) Going bankrupt is no longer an issue in the gaming industry, if all else fails, you just start making games for Nintendo!
GTA Chinatown Wars, Dead Space Extraction

7) Remaking the same game over and over again is a viable strategy.
Halo 3 ODST on the Xbox 360 has the largest number of pre-orders with almost 1.35 million, closely followed by Modern Warfare 2 also on the Xbox with just under 1.10 million pre-order sales. Modern Warfare 2 for the Sony PS3 is a long way off the figures that the 360 is enjoying, with just over 430,000 pre-orders. (quoted from product reviews dot net)

6) New ideas are over rated, as long as it is pretty, it can be great.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves won game of the year in most places

5) Run EVERYTHING under a black light. Without exception. If there is something in your house you have not put under a black light, go do it now. I'm serious. I'll wait.
Bioshock 2 special edition contained posters with hidden messages on them (I know you didn't listen to me yet. Go do it now)

4) The ESRB actually does have a sense of humor.
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board issued a "Mature" rating and description for Tecmo's Dead or Alive Paradise, citing its "creepy voyeurism" and "bizarre, misguided notions of what women really want." That description was quickly removed and reworked. The previous description also called the PSP game "cheesy" and opined that "Paradise cannot mean straddling felled tree trunks in dental-floss thongs," While we've enjoyed the ratings board's dry (and in this case wry) descriptions of games that feature "deep cleavage" and "jiggling," this one was a little different.

3) The downloadable gaming front is not going to die soon.
The Behemoth's Battleblock Theater, Perfect Dark, Toy Soldiers and so on

2) Valve is stalling.
Come on guys! Don't you have Half-Life 3 or at minimum Episode 3 to be working on! Also that Portal 2 announcement over a year ago? I didn't forget about it! You said portal multiplayer, I want portal multiplayer.

Excuse me, that was unexpected.
My apologies to Valve for that outburst but I regret nothing.

1) THERE IS STILL A GOD
TRON TWOOOOOOOOOO

also y'know, greatest year in gaming of all time.
(Bayonetta, God of War 3, Halo: Reach, Dead Rising 2, Dead Space 2, Singularity, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Perfect Dark, Fallout: New Vegas, Brink, Heavy Rain, Darksiders, Dante's Inferno, Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, Final Fantasy XXIII, Starcraft 2, AVP, Postal 3, Alan Wake, Red Dead: Redemption, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Fable 3, Metro 2033, Medal of Honor, Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands, You get the idea)
