The great remake of 2008

This is my first post forum thing, horray for me!

What I want to bring to the dinner table of deep thinking is this;
Towards the end of last year going to your local GAME store was special because in the top 20 games for sale you'll be hard-pressed to find a game that didn't end with a 2,3 or 4 in the title. Almost every game was a remake(or sequel) of something done about a year before. Now It's hard to resist the fanboy allure of playing the remakes(or sequels) so I bought every game under the sun and masturbated all over them (in a manner of speaking). But I want to know what people from across the world think.

Should the game developers have thought of different games all together?
Did you think any particular 'game remakes'(or 'game sequels') were better or worse than the originals?

Voice your opinion while I blow up an oil rig in Mercenaries2, again.

I never trade games you get poor prices for them, besides I'd have to sell them all at once because they are all stuck together in a neat little row

By "remake" do you mean "sequel"?

Because I didn't see any remakes, besides that Bionic Commando thing which may not even be out yet(?)

I saw reboots (Prince of Persia), sequels (Fable, CoD, Fallout, etc.), but no remakes. Please enlighten me.

Not at all i hate GAME, i think the people in there no jack s**t about gaming, the prices are not the best in the market. My local GAME manager is rude and insulting why should i bother paying any money towards a company like that?

Valid point made, edited post accordingly. However most sequels can be considered remakes. For example, Mercenaries2 is exactly the same as the first one except your blowing stuff up in a different country.

Well, I buy those games from online, and ship them to here where I live, so I don't know how their managers are.

And maybe not the best, but with 100$ being the normal price for new games here, and GAME being one of the few who ships here, I'm glad that that company exists.

Well, I buy those games from online, and ship them to here where I live, so I don't know how their managers are.

Speaking about my experiences with my local GAME, i've always find them pretty useless about gaming, its just me being a funny guy in what i want in gaming terms, i understand what your saying though, me living in the uk game price varies its great when two companies start to fight and give lower prices such as i remember gamestation (who are now GAME) doing £10 for a new game when you trade in a recent title brillant sales there. But i think the problem is that i hate my local if i tried a different shop i would think much differently

Isn't that the definition of a sequel in a sense? Take the same game update the graphics (maybe)move it to a different place and/or time and make essentially the same game (hopefully with some tweaks).
