I recently moved to Michigan from springfield, IL. There was a lot to do there... and now the closest city to me is Hudson, Michigan... I could jog through the whole city in five minutes. So i was just wondering if anyone here lives close-ish to that and has an idea of something fun to do in this area... or if there is anything fun to do...

Thanks in advance!

Why did you move to Michigan? that state has more or less become a dead zone as far as jobs go, and places like Detroit and Flint are shutting down more and more from what I've heard. As for the solution to your boredom, I don't have much for you, sorry.

Sandusky, Ohio (northern Ohio) might be a little bit of a drive, but Cedar Point is there. Ann Arbor and Detroit shouldn't be too far away, so if you don't mind watching sports then there's that to do. Just be weary of Detroit, the city is notoriously dangerous for a reason, though, I've been there a few times and the worst I saw was a couple drunk guys yelling at each other after a Lions game, so don't be so concerned as to think it is an automatic death trap (just as close as any single city will come to being one in this nation).

In general, most of the fun things to do in Michigan are outdoors-related. Hunting and fishing are popular, though I'm not sure of any good fishing spots near Hudson. There are also plenty of nature trails and such around the state. Overall, the best advice I can give is to make friends and find stuff to do with them. That's really all Michigan has to offer in terms of enjoyment.

(Sorry if I sound bleak with that last comment, but living in Orlando for twelve years really makes most places look boring in comparison).

Also, if Jackson isn't too far of a drive for you, they have a couple nice parks, some good nature trails, a couple decent museums (though don't expect too much), and a pretty good miniature golf course.

My girlfriend used to live in Clare and discovered the most fun thing you could do in Michigan is visit the airport... and leave.

Pretty much this. A lot of Michigan is finding things to do yourself. Getting drunk and shooting guns is probably the state hobby. With all the lakes and rivers you can usually find some awesome spots to swim. With Halloween approaching there's going to be a ton of haunted houses, which I've heard MI has more than most places (the ones in Flint are so much fun). Winter there's always sledding and snow sports. Again finding an awesome sledding hill is pretty much knowing the area. There's tons of good campgrounds if you like that as well.

I've lived in MI my entire life so I have no idea what all the things you did in IL, but in MI you have to entertain yourself. That may be the reason there's a party store on every corner.

I'm 31, I've lived here my whole life. I've been to Italy, France, Monaco, and much of the eastern, central, and some of the southern US. This is home. I bought a house 4 miles outside of Detroit last year.

What is there to really do anywhere? If you are younger, young people everywhere are usually bored of wherever it is they are at. Maybe you should see if you are one of the lucky few who can get a job in this state, save up, and then go on a little adventure and see where you fit in.

I was actually about to move to Texas about 3 years before I suddenly met a girl, landed a great job, and bought a house. Good things can happen anywhere I guess.

As for me, this weekend I am going to vacation in Cadillac, gonna stay in a room with a Jacuzzi, do some fishing- then we're going camping on some property my parents bought back in the late 80's for dirt cheap. It's pretty remote and there are no neighbors. We're going to shoot some guns, have a fire, make smores, have a few beers, and well the rest is private. :D

The best thing you could do is try to make new friends, that's all there ever is to really do.
