You know those unforgettable opening moments...
"War never changes."
"A Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy Far Far Away..."
etc.
You know... the intro's that you'll never forget. Give me your opinion.

This [http://www.mithral.com/~beberg/manifesto.html] is absolutely beautiful, especially if you consider the context in which it was written (after the author's arrest). It's not a movie or book, but is still very powerful.

As for first words, whoever came up with "Once upon a time" and "They lived happily ever after are pretty damn memorable.

Welcome... To the Velvet Room.

I'm fairly certain it was the first line spoken in Persona 4 (if not it's still pretty early on at least.)

I'm also fond of the "like Zero" simile "empty but with infinite possibilites" i believe it was, hell any well thought out simile or metaphor is automatically interesting to me.

As a side note i didn't think the "war never changes" thing from Fallout was very memorable. It just seems a bit generic.

"I am Andrew Ryan, and I am here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?..."
I'm sure you know the rest, because you are looking it up on Youtube right now.

I know it isn't exactly the very first sentence in the game but...well....shut up...

Fallout Series: "War... War never changes..."

I actually prefer the Fallout 2 one.

The ending when Ron Pearlman says, "but the scars left by the war have not yet healed, and the earth has not forgotten"

Gives me chills every time.

EDIT: Crap I just realised the title said "setence" and not "sequence". *facepalm*

In that case my favourite would be;

If books were included I would say:

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass. Leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age long past, an Age yet to come, a wind rose...

In terms of movies or games though, definitely Bastion's or Fallout's.

Not the opening line of the entire movie, but it's the first of the awesome people:

"What was that?"

"I realized, as I fell into the fissure, that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned... it continued falling into that starry expanse of which I only had a fleeting glimpse."

Let the chills begin!

"Rise and shine Mr. Freeman, rise and shine. Not that I wish to imply that you have been sleeping on the job. No one is more deserving of a rest. And all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... Well let's just say your hour has come again.
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.

So wake up Mr. Freeman,
Wake up and smell the Ashes."

Soon followed, of course, by:

"Citizen... Pick up that can."
